Resurrect Gary Gygax with AI

Gross, can AI fans stop trying to exploit dead people already?
It's baffling just how disrespectful people are continuously with AI.
"Use AI to replace artists, writers, coders, voice actors, even therapists. Often plagiarising the work of people in those fields in the process." "here's what chatgpt says about X"

No offense to the guy (I mean I hardly think he'll take offense now) but his voice annoys me O_O

All respect to Gary for his creation, but his narration is by far the worst in the game and I'd hate to have more of it.

Love Gary for his game creation. But I have zero interest in having his voice artificially generated, what a bizarre concept/desire.

As others have said, though some less politely, I was dissapointed when I heard his narration. To be fair he was a games designer and DM, he never claimed to be a voice actor. We get spoiled nowadays listening to critical roll etc.

I do think it's cool his voice is in the game.

Sorry but a TERRIBLE idea. I honor Gary for what he helped create (the TTRPG genre) and for DnD absolutely but his narration is only notable for how campy and bad it is.

It's only memorable for 2 reasons. 1 it's Gary and 2 it's just so bad it makes you laugh. I mean when he announces that Delera's been released it's anything but exciting/climatic/tense it's funny. It sounds like some old gnome finally managed a solid BM and is excited.

Face it he was no voice actor, AI isn't going to help that as it either keeps it bad OR makes it acoustically sound like Gary's voice but completely changes how he actually narrated. Neither of those are a good thing.

Not only would it be legally dubious to do such a thing without his estate’s permission, it would also be a huge waste of time.

Have you ever heard his voice? The only place that belongs is doing voiceovers for anti-smoking ads.

I would much rather see actual voice actors get parts than some AI. And I love Gygax's narration in Delera, I just don't want an old school tabletop narration in every quest. I like hearing different voices lately, and would like them to continue the trend of a different narrator for each different module. I think Sharn proved the peril of using more "independent" creators too, as the fall out between they and Baker proved last year. Otherwise I'd love to hear the Mann Shorts people.
