Returning player, got my main to level 20

I've TR'd my main(came back he was level 14, I just joined groups and got him to 20) I basically had no idea what was going on with the build. I did this cause he currently is on his 6th life and didn't want to spend the time on a first lifer. I have the xp tome, +8 tome.

I don't have sharn gear, I am aware of the free weapon at ravenloft.

What am I asking?
I am new to reaper and have realized that R1 is the new norm. I would like a build that isn't dependent on gear, however I will be looking to farm gear and searching the auction house as well I have found a guild that is always there to help (true reincarnation on thelanis, they are amazing. Grats to Gezus on the wedding!)
I was thinking a caster FVS so it seems they are fairly friendly to gear needed as well the self healing will help me not die due to lack of reaper points. What do you think? With the new forums I am struggling to find any builds.

I am not dead set on FVS. Basically I just want a build that can solo when I need to (late at night/when farming gear)and can keep up when in groups with low Reaper levels.

(Rogue, bard, barb, warlock, sorc have been completed)

TLDR; I just want to be more than a carried soul stone.

Perfect, I'ma jump right in

Only question, any of the enhancements I should rush early levels or what's the big ones I should be shooting for?

On FvS, I like to get to t3 AoV for sunbolt SLA and then get close wounds in BoH. That'll give you some nice damage options and a cheap solid spammable go-to heal. Go back to grabbing stuff in AoV after that. Then try to pickup improved scorch in Tiefling by the time you're in mid/late teen heroics; having the fire immunity strip off it just makes certain content way easier. (I actually like put points into falconry for sprint boost when leveling to zoom zoom fast, but that's a personal thing)

edit: you don't need to actually put points in STR; that's just there because it makes life easy for new players I've given that build to. Since you've got tomes, just prioritize maxing CHA/CON and then INT for extra skill points.

I'd also say that blightcaster druid is also really strong and good for low gear.

Yeah I've also been very interested in trying that blight caster hardcore build going around

Thank you for the feedback and hopefully I can come to a decision soon lol idk why I'm making this so difficult

Don't feel like you have to decide 100% now. Try out some builds to see what you like best. I know the TR cycle can be a grind, but it gives you the chance to try out all sorts of builds.
