Returning player - Why slayer zones are still so unnecessarily huge?!?

Why in 2025 when we're getting older, we have less time for gaming, more kids, more work more everything!
Why do we not have teleports for kings forest
Why do i have to go and find Sschind f*** portal
Why MD slayer zone is so big and stupidly designed to the point people are arguing what way should you go and someone is made you didnt start in Quran quest!!
Why every slayer except for Ravenloft and its Guide just SUCK!
(and why do you guys not talk about this? why you accept it?)

Why do i need to spend so much time galloping (thank god for mounts) on my horse (TO PLACES I KNOW TOO WELL HOW TO GET TO) every life in a game that incentivizes you to reincarnate multiple times and to repeat this process many times.
its 2025, its not cool to force it on people. i get why its nice to have, to go by foot if you want and to explore the slayer zones, but dont make me do it for 100+ lives that im gonna play, this is so bad, i hate it and everyone is just tired with that type of ********.
Im trying to avoid it but it sucks, some of the quests i really like, some of the quests are part of very good sagas, some flag you for raids (CITW).

Give us guides similarly to Ravenloft, stop forcing us to spend so much time not fighting, leave it as an option if u want to give people the chance to explore.
make rare encounters more significant if you want people to explore, find a way to make it worth the time, so far its just an unnecessary chore that really just make me not want to play this game.

Would love to hear your opinions, i just came back from a big break, i've played games and it made me come back smarter and not take things for granted.
i feel like this community is so used to this stupid ******** that it is just never mentioned, and it doesnt have to be that way, not in a game that people pay 100+ USD for some expansion packs, and in a game that has such a loyal playerbase,

Demand what you think needs to change, make some noise, do something!

P.S:
10 SECONDS FOR RECALL IS STUPID, 10 sec x ~200 quests = 2000 sec = over 30 minutes on recalling every past life.

Agreed. Why is Ravenloft still played. Especially for groups. Easy Peasy. Gianthold after all these years is still popular. Why are explores still played for XP heads up Orchard. Why is restless isles NEVER on a LFM. Look at LFM's it's the same old quests since 2013 when I joined. WHY? Exp and tr's.
Put some quests in these huge area's. Underdark needs at least 10 quests same as King's forest etc.
Easy mini expansion Kings forest 2 get the old expansion free with new updated 10 quests. I'm sure that would be easier than a half finished Lamordia.
same with Underdark.

Um... I don't see the problem. I like explorer zones & SlaYers and don't mind running to the Sschindylryn or Chains.
I mean, we do have mounts now; it used to be we had to pedestrian our way around so things are improving...

I've been exploring Myth Drannor wilderness this year and I love it. Not sure why people complain about "playing" the game.

I personally don't mind running to quests in Epic Stormhorns (at least 50k exp killing 100 nature/100 soldier mobs) and Myth Drannor (bunch of leftovers and Monster Manual exp popping up)... but, shouldn't we have at least the choice to run it or not?

You know, like Ravenloft/Barovia?
Those who want to wander around to the quest, could do it.
Those who want to talk to a teleporter and pop at quest entrace, could do it.

Cater to EVERYONE, not just to roadrunners.

Yah! YEAH!!! O M G, why do we have to spend time to play the game!?! Why must we spend time to level our characters?!?

SSG, it's 2025 already!!! Just GIVE US all the exp necessary to level to 34 so we can spend all our free time with our partners, children, pets and other activities!!!! OMG, why do we need to spend any time at all advancing in your game!?! How horrible you treat us!!!

PS: Don't stop spending developer time to REDUCE the freeze ups, stuttering, rubber-banding LAG!!! You ain't off the hook for that debacle!

Starting with the King's Forest, it's like they started designing wilderness areas to run out ship buffs - in the KF example, specifically to run out the energy resistance buffs.

I personally think IoD is about perfect. A static teleport and several that unlock. Several expansions could use a rework along those lines. Chill everything is relatively close together so I don't really find it an issue.

So you are "EVERYONE"? You don't want them to cater to everyone...you want them to cater to you. That's not going to happen.

I know people here are generally pro wilderness areas. I think it is more of a scam to waste your potions having to run a mile in between quests. If they want to make wilderness areas and all the work they put into them useful I have a couple of suggestions:

1. Make all the named enemies be up 100% of the time.
2. Make slayers, especially in heroic, worth it without having to buy pots to zerg through it for quick levels.
3. Increase the exploration experience and give a big bonus for completing the map exploration.

Stop with maps like MD where you constantly get knocked off mount due to mobs every where and the sheer distance between quests. Just give us a teleporter to the quests. This hurts nobody.

I get the want to teleport to quests, and smaller explorer zones, but at least we have mounts now... when Underdark first came out it took forever just to get through kings forest. Mounts do solve the issue mostly and although zones, especially like MD are stupidly big and mostly empty especially the edges.. however the quests aren't so far apart that it takes more than a few extra minutes. Best to run out to some quest in 1 direction then recall and go the next direction for quests, recall do it again etc.

Some of the explorer areas really are beautiful, but it becomes an issue of you have done the quests so many times you just want to zoom to the quest and finish them fast for exp. Sometimes we as players need to slow down on the TR train for fast exp and enjoy the journey a bit along the way.

The majority of people have been begging for more wilderness warps forever, especially since RL. Devs are very much against it. They say things like they want us to "enjoy" the wildernesses. Basically, anything that lets people level (and get xp) faster, is bad.

I don't think they really know how MMOs work, or more specifically, how DDO works. Since DDO is all about reincarnation, there's a LOT of time to put into a character to get past lives. Just making a life 10% faster is saving a TON of hours. Devs seem to think that once someone gets all the lives they'll quit DDO and there goes $$.

I think if they made PL easier to get, people would just get them more on alts. Myth Drannor is way too damn big, even with the few alts. Ya it's cool to go into a new wilderness, for the first couple times, but after that I'm done sightseeing lol. And it really just looks like a cheesy way to drain pots.

The Underdark was pretty amazing and I was very happy with the need to adventure and feel like I really needed to comb the place.

The amber temple teleport is perfect. It is a small run that introduces you to the location of the quest. Its immersive and short enough to not be a drag.

To date, Barovia is probably the only wilderness zone I've never fully explored or done slayers in. There's zero incentive, the area is poorly designed, and it feels like they had to introduce teleports to quest because they went overboard on the wilderness and didn't have time to redesign it properly.

From a gameplay experience, the whole "teleport to quest, in-and-out" feels awfully reductive and lazy. Why have a wilderness at all then? Just have all quest givers stand in a box in the middle of Marketplace and teleport you directly to whatever quest you want to run. Ideally directly to the endboss so you don't have to waste time running through the quest. Or maybe just give out XP for cash.

I think both IoD and MD slayers are fantastic to explore, and the "teleport after completing quest once" system works just fine.

I would love, however:
- More / better rewards and incentives to run the wilderness (higher total slayer numbers etc.), and I could do without rares at the very edges of the map like in MD.
- More believable hub areas - can we get rid of the "ten quest givers in a neat line / circle" trope, please?
- To see collectable journals nuked out of orbit and replaced with actual old-school explorer points, because those force better map design.

I don't think they really know how MMOs work, or more specifically, how DDO works.
How do MMOs work? Most MMOs I've played do require you to travel to certain areas for quests and raids. Sure, there are some convenience features, but not nearly as reductive as what we already have in DDO.

If they learned from other MMOs, they wouldn't introduced more travel, and more / better mount options, if anything.
