I hope they do revamp sentience someday but not in the way you want. I personally have been advocating for sentient jewels to get their own gear slot and for filigrees to be applied directly to the jewel; so we can hot swap weapons and jewels independently. I hate how the current system makes trying new or different weapons types very painful and expensive; in a game where every TR I might be playing something new, it makes it very difficult to try new things with weapon choices.
