Rogue's BlackBird and Recolours - UI Skin

Rogue

UI Editor
Hey Rogue was wondering how to get started on making my own UI, if you have a quick guide?
Download the files and get an image editing software, I use Gimp. There are others like photoshop. My files are somewhat organized into sections. You can find downloads of the current default skin, though it is just one massive file not organized. I also use a program called FastStone Fileviewer, as windows doesn't default to letting you see a preview of DDO file type.

The files are a bunch of little files that connect together that make up the sections of the UI. Some files are used for multi-purpose parts of UI, so changing something like the chat may change something else. Which, may not line up. So, takes time to figure out what goes where. Example is post #12 here. I worked on a part of the UI at one point and that part looked good. But, it made another part of the UI not line up. I left the files there and when I went back the renaming folders at a later time, I put those files back to active and it cause a problem.

I mainly stay logged into the game while editing. When I save a file, I swap default skin and back to the skin I am working on, then check on the lining up of files to make sure it all looks good.

You can also currently find us on the current Unofficial DDO Dicord #ui-skins channel. Perhaps when the official one comes out, we'll have a UI place there too. At least there, we can talk more about problems as they come up along your journey to getting started with learning the craft. There are a few of us in there that have release Skins and are happy to help.

GL with your progress and with getting started!

I noticed buffs showing up on the right side of the screen, but default it seems for me (even with the skin) is the left.

Can the location be changed?

If yes, Is it simply right or left, or is it possible to select a static placement for them to appear (ie center top, or from a set coordinate?)

location for the buff bar is either left or right. it is under UI settings if memory serves.
Well, that is unfortunate. Playing it past a certain width becomes a problem with those locations. Oh well, not the end of the world, but would have been nice to place them top center at least.

That and having windows with positional memory. I think those two issues are the only real drawback with the interface as it concerns extreme widescreen setups.
