Rusted Keys in Auction House

Rusty keys can be posted in the auction house. These are useless, don't be scammed. Be careful when purchasing Night Revels keys in the auction houses.

Dear Devs, this was changed last year to make it so that these keys and deprecated ingredients couldn't be posted. Can we get this change implemented again this year?

Bigger issues - past year ingredients (candies, chocolate) don't say "rotten" and such in the name. They can't be turned in (which is fine) but they CAN be auctioned. There is going to be a lot of AH fraud and confusion....

Can someone else confirm seeing same?

Yes I am seeing this as well. I pulled some out of crafting storage (where they had the rotten name but they had that name when they were good 😡 ) and they came into inventory as Black Apples. They don't work in the barter box but they can be auctioned as Black Apples. This will piss off players.

The whole renaming thing has always been awful with shared crafting bank not reflecting the correct name. SSG should either just stop with the expiry of these ingredients or simplify the process to just completely change they name of ingredients every year. Black Apple becomes Creepy Carrot next year. Changing names of ingredients in bank and inventory would not be required as the old names would not be referred to in the barter box. If nothing else "Black Apple 2024" followed by "Black Apple 2025" next year would be far more clear.

"Black Apple 2024" and "Black Apple 2025" are earth years Anno Domini. 2024 A.D. They don't belong in a fantasy D&D Eberron game.
Eberron adventurers begin in the year 998 YK (2006). So this year will be 1016 YK (2024); and next year will be 1017 YK (2025).

It'll be okay if they renamed to "Black Apple 1016 YK" and "Black Apple 1017 YK"...

Or in other words, "defeat the whole purpose"

If you go that route, label based on Night Revels anniversary year.

8th Night Revels anniversary? "Black Apples of the 8th Revels" or something like that.

They need to issue account bans for things like this.

I just tried to post this to forums. It looks like the ingredients dropping have , will disappear sometime in 2023 in the description. I ran the Kobolds twice and Snitch once all the drops have the 2023.

Even in the most immersive role playing you have to know real life information. This is a case where that label is akin to saying Player's Handbook 2024.

No. since rusty keys are worthless, instead of having rusty keys in your inventory why can't they simply disintegrate with a suitable message being displayed in the general tab?

This is what I see as well.

By that reasoning we shouldn't ban players who exploited since the ineptness of the devs made it possible to dupe items with the bank.

Ideally the items should disappear post-event.
Agree 100%. Exploiting due to dev incompetence should not be banned. In fact, reporting the exploits should be rewarded with finder's fees to make the entire experience more collaborative. Cheaters are going to cheat. And they will keep it very secret if getting caught has penalties. If it doesn't, and actually rewards them for finding said exploits, they will be far more incentivized to do that instead. At least that's what companies have found when looking for holes and bugs in their software.
I am not for the banning of any player. Period.

Banning doesn't have to and shouldn't be permanent. The problem is there's no other ways to penalize a player for taking advantage of a mistake or intentional laziness on the part of the developer.

Lol taking advantage of a mistake or intentional laziness should again not be punished. I could see it if you were bringing 3rd party things into it like net-limiters and stuff like that. But banning due to outright laziness by the developer? That's on them not the players. Further, with a player base of less than 2500 as a daily count, banning is very counter productive to the health of the game.
If I make a mistake at work, do I forbid my client from doing business with me ever again because they adhered to my mistake? No. I correct the mistake and either renegotiate with the client or eat the mistake. If a person goes to the store and sees an item priced for $1 and it should be $25, does the business ban them from the store for life or at all because they bought the item? Nope. They fix the mistake and move on. I'm glad so many are in charge of so little because I can't see how people would be successful in anything in life with such a heavy handed black and white view of the world.

Knowing SSG, there's a chance of a "Seasonal Event Security Package" soon, that comes with one bank slot. ;)

They won't bother putting effort into that, same way they won't cap the AS auctions to prevent those 20K+ AS posts for Otto's Boxes.
If some kid with a parents CC is dumb enough to buy one, SSG can get that fat 30% cut, and point to the EULA section on "no refunds". 💸

100% correct.

People get conned out of plat and shards with this mechanism. Part of the issue is some items from events last in perpetuity and others decay and become useless. It's easy to see people getting confused and getting swindled at the auction house.

I see two solutions to players from being exploited from this failed mechanism.

First solution: Simply prevent expired raid items from being eligible to be posted on the auction house.

Second solution: Eliminate the mecanic of event items expiring.
