Saltmarsh Quartermaster Chits

I'm either getting really unlucky or the drop rate on those things is trash. So, how about either upping the drop rate or letting us exchange that hay that seems to always drop for some chits. Maybe at a rate of either 5 hay to 1 chit or 10 to 1. I've been trying for 3 days to get some chits and haven't seen a single one drop.

Running quests and they're just not dropping for me. I think between Cannith and Cormyr I've looted maybe 9 Chits since Saltmarsh released.
That is some unusually poor luck and coming from me that's saying something. What difficulty are you running the quests on? Hubby and I were just grinding two quests for a couple of items he needed, running LE. Only took 4x each quest to get the 2 items he wanted to drop, just the two of us and I have 6 chits just from 4x 2 quests. I was not running any store potions or whatever affects named drop rate, idk about hubby though.

What server are you on?

Most of the time Hard or Elite, once in a while Normal. Cannith and Cormyr are my main servers now.

My personal experience which cannot be taken as mathmatical evidence is that the drop rate is decent for those. I probably get 5+ each life going through Saltmarsh on heroic.

A thought for the OP: Post an LFM and in the LFM state that you are needing the Chits from anyone who joins and doesn't need. Pretty sure that would help even out the low drop rate you've experienced.

Best of luck

They also almost never drop for me as well. Clearly, there is both a chit and a wi flag. (read that out loud)

I've noted in my Elixir of Discovery test runs that Chits appear to be influenced by Loot boosts.

Chits have a low drop rate on Normal (Heroic) of around ~20%.
With an Elixir of Discovery 15% on Normal (Heroic) I saw around a 42% drop for Chits.

I have not performed tests on eN or lN, so can not say for those, but if you are after Chits, try running on Heroic.

Sadly, I am on Thelanis only so can be of no immediate help. Elite seems to have the best drop chance.

I had noticed Chits dropped more frequently on elite, I just hadn't extrapolated that to its full conclusion that Chits are considered a named item and thus influenced by the named loot drop rate. Your observation would appear to support that hypothesis as well.

For some reason I had been thinking of Chits like Ferrocrystals because you use both to get the weapon type of that particular expansion but Ferrocrystals drop more consistently in all chests of that expansion... more similar to saltmarsh hay drop chances than Chits which only have a chance to drop in named loot quest chests.

I had actually thought that was the case too. But on looking through the results I had, it's clear that it's chance to appear is related to named drop chance without impacting on the named items actually dropping (thankfully), which is not the same as prior drops like Ferrocrystals.

I'm confused, are you saying Ferrocrystals replace named items if they drop? because I'm fairly certain I've received both from the same chest before. (But now I feel the need to double-check.) My previous statement which you quoted just meant that for me Ferrocrystals and Saltmarsh hay drop at similar rates, regularly in both quest optional and end chests as well as wilderness chests whereas Chits only drop in the end chests of quests and seem to be tied to the same drop chance as Named Loot. I didn't mean to imply they replaced named loot, only to indicate the drop chance similarity and location.

I apologise for my post not being clearer, I was busy with handling another matter IRL just now and just posted that semi-quickly and thus may have been less clear than I liked.

I meant that from the results I have, it's clear that for the Saltmarsh Chits drop rate is tied to the named item drop rate. However, thankfully they (Chits dropping) do not impact on named items dropping themselves (from the results I have looked at here, one dropping does not impact on the other appearing or not). This (chits drop rate being related to named item drop rate) is not the same (at least from what I remember) to other similar systems; such as the Ferrocrystals - which as you have noted appear to have more parity with the Hay from Saltmarsh.

The test results were all done via Back to Basics end Chest only on Normal (Heroic), as they were the quickest one to drag another toon in to test if the Elixirs of Discovery bonus is working correctly; by using a bunch of toons without the elixir, and identical built toons with an elixir. Tests show that Normal does indeed drop at 10% and that with the Saltmarsh Elixir (15%), the drop rate is indeed being applied additively to reach ~25% drop rate.

Anyone wondering about a "normal" elixir, I will be continuing those tests later too. But thus far, I have no reason to believe they are not working as described.
