I don't agree with Druidsfire. I think current system is fine. There is no need to change everything just because one day they made a mistake and ended the offer early.

But they didn't end the offer early except for the mystery about the 30 versus 20 codes not going off at the same time. Everything else operated the same way they've done for years, so it's not like this is really anything new.

If SSG is interested in trying to level the playing field, my suggestion is one way of going about it. If they're not interested or are firm on their current procedures, then there will always be folks who are gonna miss out. That's just how it's been for years. It's unfortunate, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. *shrug* I'm not fussed about it either way but it's important to others.

As I said, I don't agree with you. As you said, it was a code error. There's no need to nag everyone else for a mistake.

Through a particular date means starting when it is announced and continuing until the end of the date specified. Ending a sale or coupon before the end of the day, 11:59pm ET where SSG headquarters are at, can be considered as ending it early. Whether or not things have or have not historically worked a certain way does not mean SSG's marketing is clear about a particular day ending when SSG says it ends. Lets be real here...SSG has historically botched sales and coupons and could have botched this one as well. If SSG wants to end the sale at 9pm ET, they could state that in the forum posts that are made for all to see, whether or not they are logged into DDO or the forums, so there will be no confusion. They are running a business and should be as clear as other businesses are with their dealings.

Anyway, an official reply from staff, one way or the other, is warranted on this thread.

Well on the bright side DDO20 code still worked. Let me explain.
I was going through picking out want I wanted to use my discounts for and not thinking I typed DDO20 instead of SAVE20 and it worked, applying the 20% discount. Now I did have one use left on the DDO20 code from way be then but got side tracked and ended up not using it so I though it was lost forever. I was then able to use the SAVE20 twice.

Moral of the story, nobody understand DDO's coupon codes, not even SSG

Maybe a working coupon will be motivation for staff to finally respond after this thread has been here for a week, since it would be fiscally responsible for them to not have it continue working, but I have a feeling it will just get shutoff without communication.

Yeah, going to be honest I like reading all these comments, it's helping kinda making a clear image of the situation. I find it funny that DDO20 was working, it is not right now though it is a strange curve ball when talking about why 1/3 of a sale ended before the typical time we have learned to expect when the words "Through Blank Day" has been used before. Sometimes it's jarring when we are used to one thing and then it changes, even if the change is more of a reverting to the old way like the HP/SP reaper thing that is happening now. I'm just more interested in getting friends and DDO people who were negatively impacted by this a stage to gather people for intel and talk about this, and also hoping the DEVs can way in for those people. It would be very nice. I'm glad we can talk about this civilly, I know there is some parts of the forums where this can be derailed. I love my goldfish.

I put in a ticket for my situation with the coupon and got a response and resolution I am happy with. If you put in a ticket, it might take some time for them to respond, but they did respond to mine.
Just to piggyback on this, it appears resolutions are forthcoming with about a 7-9 days after filing a ticket.

Also, short and sweet and to the point helps with tickets:

On (this date) I purchased (this thing) for (this much). The coupon for (this percent off) was not working. Please give me (this percent) of (this much) refunded.
Tends to work best. However, you can write pretty much anything you want. I occasionally write long massive run on sentences without punctuation after imbibing. Every word is read. Maybe not right away, but everything is parsed and broken down and figured out as best they can. Impressive! (lately I've been writing random haikus (sometimes in english))

I wanted to share the final results of my issue.

I did get a response back from SSG and they initially offered me to apply the 30% coupon to another future purchase. In my response, I said that I intended to use the 30% coupon specifically for the purchase of the superior coffer and settled into using the 20% instead, since the 30% was not working. SSG then refunded me the difference between the 30% and 20% I spent on the coffer back to my account.

I don't get on the forums to complain about the game very often but I am very pleased that SSG made this right and made this a very positive experience. Thank you SSG Customer support and special thanks to Sir Michael Jones (whom helped me with this ticket).

I greatly appreciate the game, this community and the great people that make this possible. Merry Christmas and happy holidays.
