It is a great way for points (cheapo me has earned a few thanks to your kindness), sharing your toon‘s aesthetics, and promoting content featured in the pic (often SSG features the latest stuff which is a great idea for marketing).
It helps also present the aesthetics of the game which is a nice touch for an aging graphics engine. I am sure the art people love to see their work interpreted.

Hi! No, it is a spot at the boss fight of 'Fashion Madness.' I do not own Myth Drannor (yet!).
(Claver is referring to his pics.) Yours are great! Crisp and bright. Mine never seem to come out that nice. I tried sending in combat action shots (mostly during various HC seasons) but I guess they were never fun enough to post. Or too low graphic quality. Or, most likely, there were always many more submitted better-composed pictures!I did a few
