Sentient jewel ad CITW weapons

Couldn't find this info anywhere, please advise: if I have a CITW weapon (in my case, Sireth) and added a sentient jewel to it, would doing the Attuned to Heroism ritual(s) affect the sentient jewel in any way? Do I have to unslot before I upgrade? Wouldn't want to lose it in the process, as I've heard you can during some rituals.

And related question: if I unslot a sentient jewel, does it lose the XP accumulated so far?

The upgrades to CITW weapons don't create a new weapon, so the jewel will be safe.

Unslotting a jewel will not remove any XP it has, but in order to unslot it, you also have to remove any filigrees. Moving a full jewel around is a little resource intensive (unless you don't care about the filigrees and can safely destroy them rather than using a sentient toolkit to remove them for re-use).
