A mega server could be mega great, or mega laggy (but not both). I would err on the side of mega laggy so two is a safer choice.

Instead of launching two separate servers,
It seems you forgot Cormyr.

Anyways, 64 bit servers can partition off all public events reulting in zero lag. They also will allow things likke hardcore to be run on each server iirc. They also can preload instances vs reading fm a disk.? Now maybe we can get some feedback from people that can explain the adavantages.
32-bit can access 2^32 different memory addresses or a maximum of 4 GB (4,294,967,296 bytes) of RAM.

64-bit can access 2^64 different memory addresses or 16 exabytes (18,446,744,073,709,551,616 bytes)

So, 64-bit processors can handle lots more data at once, leading to faster computation and more efficient multitasking.

32-bit processors are limited in their performance due to the lower amount of memory they can access and the fewer calculations they can perform per server

Yes, but what does that have to do with my topic?
Cormyr is SSG's flagship 64 bit server, opened Nov 24'. Originally ViP only. We hosted the "Lanterns in the Mist" event, then shortly after that it was opened up to F2P. So your topic omits cormyr, as it one of the four 64 bit servers. Hope that clears it up for you

Thane is dead on arrival. Shadowdale is a cooler name, and that is the only reason it will die. Weird reason, I know, but I'm right.
I appreciate your forecast. I disagree. However, let's learn more about Thrane:

Thrane officially entered Dungeons & Dragons lore in 2004, with the launch of the Eberron Campaign Setting for 3.5e. It's a fantastic name for a server.

📘 Eberron Campaign Setting (D&D 3.5e)

  • This core book, designed by Keith Baker (who won Wizards of the Coast’s "Fantasy Setting Search" in 2002), first detailed Thrane as one of the Five Nations of Khorvaire.
  • It presented Thrane as a theocratic nation ruled by the Church of the Silver Flame, distinct for its religious governance rather than monarchy.
  • The concept of a modern, post-magical-war continent with noir and pulp influences was a defining trait of Eberron—and Thrane exemplified this by blending divine zeal with political power.

🏛️ Origins and Early History

  • Thrane began as Daskara, a kingdom among the Five Nations founded by Galifar I in 0 YK. It was renamed Thrane after Galifar’s daughter

  • In 299 YK, the heroic sacrifice of Tira Miron against a fiendish incursion sparked the founding of the Church of the Silver Flame

  • By 400 YK, the Church had become dominant across Thrane, forming the basis for its future theocracy

⚔️ Shift to Theocracy

  • After King Jarot’s death in 894 YK, Thrane declared independence under King Thalin, which helped ignite the Last War

  • In 914 YK, following Thalin’s death and concerns about Prince Daslin’s weakness, the monarchy was dissolved. Power fully shifted to the Church of the Silver Flame, making Thrane the first true theocracy in Khorvaire

  • The Last War concluded in 996 YK, and Thrane continued as a theocratic state into the modern era

🏰Founded in the 2004 Eberron Setting
    • Thrane has featured in every major Eberron release—from Eberron Campaign Setting (2004), Five Nations (2005), all the way to Eberron: Rising from the Last War (5e).

    • Iconic elements include Flamekeep, the roles of the Keeper of the Flame and High Cardinals, and orders like the Crimson Legion and Flamebearers.

🔍 Why This Matters for Lore

  • Thrane was conceived as a centuries-old religious nation, not a reaction to modern events—it reflects deep-rooted faith and political upheaval.

  • Its transition from monarchy to ecclesiastic rule frames many story themes: zealotry, skepticism, power struggles, and quest for divine purpose.

  • This makes it one of the most politically and thematically rich nations in Eberron lore.

Then again... its a server. Enshrined in D&D lore. So it work for me! :)

I voted no. Thrane denizens want a endgame focused server. Shadowdale from what I am seeing in a shadowdale discord a more lax server with a vibrant endgame also. Sounds more my speed.

So no thank you.

Did you see the poll results? It’s 26–6. That’s more than 4 to 1 against the idea of a single server. Consolidating into only one megaserver would likely cause more problems than it solves.

Not everyone feels that way. Thrane will have plenty to offer new players and casuals too—and that’s intentional. For survivability -- we want a well-rounded server.

When Thrane launches, new players will find help from Day One. Guilds that I see starting on Thrane run the entire gamut... and some will be ready to support players through every level—including endgame. And that’s something we at Tyrs Paladium are looking forward to.

So I look at Thrane as a guild focused server, with a strong end game option, that focuses at teamwork from Day One. Its a winning formula. I believe Shadowdale will have an excellent end game as well. This jump to new 64 bit servers are the BIGGEST BUMP to guilds I've seen in DDO in over A DECADE.

That would be the same problem, no one knows greyhawk.
So. . . you're saying I don't exist then? I started with Greyhawk, I stayed with Greyhawk, and I'll end with Greyhawk, chief. Maybe you don't know it, but that's a you problem.

Greyhawk is where I started as well. Old School D&D players know exactly what it is, and who created it, the one and only Gary Gygax, one of the co-creators of D&D. It served as the setting for much of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D) and early 3rd edition materials.

Vecna came alive in Greyhawk. Vecna was a powerful arch-lich who eventually became a god of secrets, undeath, and forbidden knowledge.
Betrayed by his lieutenant Kas the Bloody-Handed, which led to the dismemberment that birthed the Hand and Eye of Vecna artifacts, which is actually in DDO. The Hand of Vecna is present as a quest boss and NPC in the Vecna Unleashed adventure pack.

Lore references to Greyhawk mages like Bigby, Otiluke, and Melf do exist in DDO as well, mainly through spell names.

Sir, your poll was pointless and un-necessary.

The devs made a decision to have three US and one EU server, and have already allocated resources to make it happen, probably signing a multi year lease in the process.

Your 'feels' on the name will not, by any stretch of the imagination, cause them to change course.

:idly wonders if there is a don Quichote meme as he wanders off, wishing for that ignore thread button:

With all the derailing the conversations, does anyone else agree that the two should merge, NO and hope they have a chance of maintaining their own population without being absorbed into Cormyr within a year or two? Speak now, cause tomorrow or even hours will be to late .

Welcome to the foums,
