Shadowdale Lag Spike

I experienced serious rubberbanding on Moonsea yesterday while running (solo) the first high road quest. My ping was 10-20ms, yet I was constantly seeing long pauses and snap-backs of 2-10 seconds. While monitoring my latency externally, I confirmed that the pauses were directly related to the server performance. Which BTW, I was on server 67 (/loc) at the time. Please note that other devices using the same connection worked flawlessly.

Exiting the quest and entering a different one resolved the issue. Which makes me think that the higher numbered servers are having issues with basic quests now, not just the 12-man raids... If I were to hazard a guess, I bet the higher server numbers are mostly being tasked with the /transfer process currently underway. Thus if you enter an instance that's also being tasked with managing someone's transfer, your going to get bogged down massively.

But with 4 times the population.
Yeah we had the sudden downtime on Thrane/Cormyr yesterday ...but after wards while we still would see a lag spike it was overall better. What is great is scrolliong through the LFMs and seeing 40+ and posting one and it filling in a minute !!! In a few weeks most of these pains will be behind us and looks to be very promising future.

I was running bringing the light, and was so mesmerized by the flashing lights and sounds of the gnomish gambling devices that I just stood there fascinated while the guards beat me unconscious. I brought Elieri and she stood there saying "kick her again!" while laughing.

while we wait..checkout this otc stock potheads! DOGP Dogecoin cash . they facilitate the medical marijuana cards, but also handle the cash from dispensaries and invest it in crypto currency. They also have one of the 1st patent on a strain of flower and a medical edibles patent. Super micro cap... any large buy will be noticed, step in w tiny bites and never pay up. Back when this came out It may have been shorted between $6-$10 ??? otc shorts can be very hard to discern. But the price hit those highs is evidence. Good luck! maybe we can buy ddo if this goes big.
DOGP? Dogecoin cash? I am not sure this is good investment Colonel. Also, this is not the cryptocurrency dogecoin which is trading at $0.23. This is also a super micro stock, very risky indeed.

Problems with this stock:
  1. Growth year over year is lower than previous year every year since 2020. Prior to 2020 they had positive growth.
  2. Their cost of revenue is increasing year over year; hence their net profit is going lower every year; which can affect the stock price in a very bad way.
  3. Super micro stock, very risky indeed. I mean I do like to buy DDO, but not with this stock.
  4. Major Red Flags:

    • Revenue declined 31.62% in 2024 to $802,704, with losses of $1.73 million - 24.3% worse than 2023
    • EBITDA margin is -85.95% meaning they're losing money on operations
    • Market cap is only $4.6M with trailing revenue of $762K

Positives: The stock has outperformed both the US Healthcare industry (-20.8%) and US Market (12.4%) over the past year

Bottom Line: At $0.04, you'd be paying above current market price for a company that's losing money, has declining revenue, and operates at negative margins. This appears to be a speculative penny stock trading on meme appeal rather than fundamentals. The financial metrics suggest significant risk, and you'd essentially be betting on a turnaround story or meme-driven price appreciation.

This would be extremely high-risk speculation rather than a value investment.

It feels like a pump-and-dump. Regardless, this isn't the forum for financial advice from people who, by all evidence, have no license to legally dispense such advice. Edit: Referring to Col's horrible advice, not your comment.

The game is almost unplayable, it is causing players a lot of frustration whether it's time lost, dungeon/raid failures, potions expired, etc.

This lag is just unacceptable! What is SSG going to do about this?
Great question. I have not ran a xp pot since transferring over and am holding off reincarnating till the lag has subsided which means I will be using xp elixirs.

Not unexpected that there is a larger number of transfers/unpacks loading servers after Thursday's patch. Judging by player populations on the now "old" servers this could be the last major group of them.

My experience in Shadowdale right now is the same as the OP's. The game is unplayable. And it totally jammed up my computer such that it took 15 minutes to exit out and quit the game client.

I don't want to diminish the frustration East Coast players are feeling right now, I empathize with you.

My West Coast play time (11 pm - 2 am EST) has been fairly smooth. Yes, there is stuttering and a bit of rubberbanding when in high traffic areas (Marketplace and Marketplace bank) but I have been just switching to a different Marketplace instance and it makes a world of difference.

Quite honestly, for my play time there is less lag on the new servers than there was on the old 32 bit servers on the East Coast.

The lag is part of the mass transfer process. Just live with it for another week and things should improve dramatically. Then we'll get another week and a half of hell when the deadline approaches in late August.

Last night was a special case. Both Thrane and Cormyr went down for patches. They came backup around 8:15pm EST and that's when Shadowdale gets the lag spike because of the bandwidth usage of the server farm data center at Vegas. Lots of huge junk, eh, *coughs* storage transfers from legacy servers to Thrane and Cormyr were causing problems on Shadowdale affecting its bandwidth.

My character did R1 Legendary VOD, it was very smooth, but the raid leader told my character that no pets, no companion, no summons allowed. My character was sad because that summon was part of the DPS provided.
Then that character did Den of Vipers, no lag there; then THTH, lag hits with all the forgewraiths burning and yearning. We completed with a cheat: Bacon Divinity. Followed by Project Nemesis, no lag there, strangely.

Around 10:30pm EST, Another character was in Zawabi's Revenge Epic; that one was short and sweet 5 minutes, and then he went into Epic VONS 5/6. That one was bad. We could barely move and apparently puzzles and lag don't mix well; along with drones trying to hit you while lagging and solving the puzzle.
I have not used pets, ran a bit of solo slayer and lagged so bad for so long had to quit game to get out again. So..did you say something about pets and raids?

I ran all of a ravenloft and the two Lordsmarch chains today and it was not bad at all. We did have one quest where we all lag froze; recalled out, reset instance and it was fine.

Tonight is the worst of the lags: Killing Time whole raid party wipe. Nobody could move in the shadows fight against Nythiros, Phase II at Tower of Despair. Then, my character joined a Legendary Master Artificer. Nobody could move in House Cannith. Teleported out to House Kundarak, couldn't move there; and finally teleported to Myth Drannor. Couldn't move there either. Gave up and logout.

Some powerful Zukir must have arrived at Stormreach and cast a Legendary Time Stop on the whole city.

Can some data center hero at Vegas help Break Enchantment of this Time Stop?
