Shard Exchange leaves me bewildered at times

I have to say that many times when i visit the Shard Exchange, i am left wondering why folks put up filigrees for 11,000 shards? Thats the equivalent of over $400,00 in real money. Makes me believe three things, one of which is that folks who come across from other servers have a significantly overinflated idea of item values, another is they are using it as a holder, unlikely, but possible and the third, well i think most of the playerbase knows what the third option is relating to shards.......

That's just SSG hoping someone's desperate (dumb?) enough to buy an Otto's or really rare Filigree, for their 30% gouge. They won't put
a reasonable cap on the SE, it's not really an oversight on their part, so much as financial planning. ;)

Until devs fix drop rates of gen 2 filigrees, you're going to keep seeing it.
Never saw it on Khyber. 11,000 shards for a Shattered Device Melee Power Filigree? I dont think it has anything to do with drop rates. Last time i checked, the same filagrees were available on Khyber as every other server, so im not buying the statement around Devs needing to fix drop rates. I have my thoughts on other theories, totally unrelated to drop rates.

What does it have to do with SSG? I dont think SSG are putting the things on the Shard Exchange. Its players that do that. Like i said never saw this on Khyber. No one would spend that kinda coin on one filagree. It doesnt make or break a build.

On Argo someone kept a post of Quiver of Poison for like 2k shards, for the entire length of the game. It was always on there.

Just to counter this again, some examples, Dreadbringer Tactics DC - 1000 shards, another one Dreadbringer Tactics DC - 199, Prowess Melee Power 1999, Prowess Melee Power 190, Spines of Manticore Ranged Power 1550, Spines of the Manticore 260. The fact that there are substantially cheaper ones by comparison debunks what you are saying. It has nothing to do with drop rates, but rather has more to do with others overinflated value of what they are trying to sell. Like i said, never saw it on Khyber, and the drop rates havent changed

There needs to be vendor selling shards for plat, or, preferably, A$AH completely removed with more plat sinks introduced to game.
And since we're on 64 bit servers, we could now have waaaay bigger currency cap

What you are saying is true of those examples of Gen 1 and Gen 3 filigrees. I have 12 Dreadbringer: Tactics DC (rare) filigrees and the idea of valuing them at even 199 is overpricing in my opinion.

The thing is it's not real money.

If someone has unlimited access to shards with ******, they can buy anything and not spend a dime.

People can list for whatever they want. That doesn't mean they sell for that rate. I've listed my Shattered device melee power rare for 9k, 8k, and I think now 6k and it still hasn't sold. It's almost going to be half off! Better snatch it up quick!
Also, I always list below what the lowest listing is, so don't blame me as I'm not setting the high of the market.

It's basic economics: Something is worth what someone is prepared to pay.

If it doesn't sell at 11k it will eventually come down to a price someone will pay.

Personally I'm never paying more than 1k for anything. But I don't set the value. The market does. if someone is (in my view) daft enough to pay 11k shards for effectively 2mp, good luck to them. And particularly to the seller! 😁👍

1) banking
2) display for further negotiations
3) if someone buyout by mistake unknowingly or while scrolling - win-win
4) also, while not sure how many BIG whales out here in DDO, but for some people 100-400$ is not big deal

Some players use shard AH as bank for 72 hours. They put an item there for a prize noone wants to pay. Free bank slot it is :)
