Shard Exchange leaves me bewildered at times

The thing is it's not real money.

If someone has unlimited access to shards with ******, they can buy anything and not spend a dime.
Takes a bit to accumulate 11k shards without spending a dime. At some point in time it does involve real money to start the ball rolling.

It's basic economics: Something is worth what someone is prepared to pay.

If it doesn't sell at 11k it will eventually come down to a price someone will pay.

Personally I'm never paying more than 1k for anything. But I don't set the value. The market does. if someone is (in my view) daft enough to pay 11k shards for effectively 2mp, good luck to them. And particularly to the seller! 😁👍
Fair points. 2MP isnt going to make or break a build and if it does, i would suggest there are some more serious flaws with the build. Its just me personally, but i try to do what i can to assist players and strengthen the player base, not rip people blind. Having millions of plat and 1000s of shards doesnt count for squat in the real world and to be totally honest doenst count for squat in the game either, everyone is just another player

I think people would start to care if accounts got banned for being on the receiving end of duped items.
Lol. How would you know at all? This is not some sort of shady transaction. This is from the game approved auction house. They aren't going to ban characters for posting items having them sell. The players in this game sometimes...

Jealous arent you?

Anyway, if SSG is dumb to ban people for using their ingame system to trade items, people would just stop using it. And guess what? The 30% cut they get from sales are not going to happen too.

So, I look at the Ah ans see a curse cleanser card or three listed for, lets say 800 Shards BO.

I list mine for 750BO.

The person who buys mine got his shards by duping I should be banned?

Yeah, No.

Just because something is listed for auction at a price doesn’t mean it will sell at that price.

Value isn’t so much what people want for something as opposed to what people are willing to pay for it.

If something actually sells for that price then it might be noteworthy, until then it’s either wishful thinking by the seller or maybe someone trying to scam a rube.

(I recall seeing augments listed in the shard exchange that you could get for cheaper trading shards for at vendors. That was clearly someone looking to gouge players who didn’t know about the vendors or didn’t check first.)

Not in my case.

I have c.12k shards, and gained c.5k of that in the past few months on the ASE by selling excess augs. I'm probably just over breaking even from where I was when MD came out, as I spent c.5k on rerolling for rares (a mistake I won't ever be repeating!).

I've never bought a shard. No need to, as there are certainly shards to be made selling the right loot at the right price, without spending a penny. 👍

That's crazy though. They shouldn't be getting a cut from money they sold us. I can see the platinum AH having a sales tax but the shard exchange having one is a blatant thievery.

If they'd give us real trading they can have my cut every single day in and out

Jealous of what? Of folks who have an overinflated value of their items? Jealous of a virtual world where virtual money means nothing? Not at all. You are a funny little person

So yeah... rare filagrees are really pricey, and I think they are out of reach for a lot of players, but really, I have been farming them for a week and I dont get any to drop, so I think 500-2000 is a fair price for them.

Capitalism doesn’t care what you think is a fair price.
