Should I wait for Lamordia?

I'm enjoying DDO again because I've NOT been in MD for a few weeks. TRing and finishing EPLs on my second toon.

The game is fun again because I've been AVOIDING the latest expansion.

Please explain to me why I'd ever buy another expansion again?
I just hope we can get enough players to not buy this expansion for points and not to pay for the next expansion, that the devs realize that rare loot is unacceptable. Farming gear isn't fun.

Missing out on what exactly though? See above post.
You'd have to ask the people that actually pay for these things. It absolutely amazes me the number of people that can't wait 6 months for an expansion to be released for points. FOMO is real, but apparently a problem I don't have to contend with. The question is how far can the devs push the average FOMOer before they break them and they stop paying. Hopefully MD rares was enough to break the FOMO and causes enough financial pain that they go back to MD (and all future content) and make rare drops a thing of the past. The fish swords in the cooking quest can be the last rare drops the game ever has as far as I am concerned.

I own Myth Drannor but I reeeeeeeeaally don’t want to go in and farm it.

Should I wait for Lamordia to farm? Why or why not?

Is Lamordia even coming out this year? Or is it next year?

I also reeeeally hate Myth Drannor and Forgotten Realms, the most generic, boring setting in the D&D universe.
According to the trolls you should go out and enjoy the fresh air until two days after the final expansion arrives 2038 then go farm that one.
Or you could go and have fun right now with the awesome quests that are MD.
Teh trolls will say that it was much better with the old quests in harbour and marketplace, and that the game was ruined when they moved cap up from lev 10. Dont listen to trolls.
Also, for those that are too much snowflake to farm rares....*** are you doing at the farm already ?

Welcome to the game! Glad you're enjoying it!

Wait to see if getting to the quests is convenient. At least rares is a profit generating scam. Quests in the middle of a sea of black map nowhere in no particular order with clunky tools to identify the right door is just a tragic unforced error that kills PUG grouping. A year later, its sorta ok now, people sorta kinda know where the crap is located.

MD is great for non-raiders. The ability to trade in two Fallen Age weapons for the ones you want makes some builds really fly. The Morninglord and Nightmother and non-raid weapons are great but they fall off by 34 or so and the MD weapons do a very good job of picking up at that point.

Some of the items that you can get in quests that aren't rare are also very good for current cap play as long as you're not on the powertrain to nowhere.

Uses name Elminister: "I hate Forgotten Realms and Marty Stu characters"

(But I agree, it is somehow at the same time the blandest setting, and the "fantasy kitchen sink" setting)

Meh, trolls. Another option, just take a balanced approach like a turtle, (if you have a laptop) and take your computer to the porch and enjoy the fresh air while playing ddo in whatever style you actually enjoy. :)

Seriously, it's a game, make yourself happy OP! :)

the new loot mechanic will stay while people continue to spend money on shards for rerolls. It's as simple and complicated as that. Despite all the negative feed back SSG's profit margins has risen significantly since this was introduced. And it would appear it has risen enough to off set the predicted down turn in expansion sales (which probably won't be as high as we think). So they will continue with it. Once people stop rerolling the chests then the down turn in expansion sales will hurt and the mechanic will be turned off. It's simples.

You know what.

I wouldn’t mind they are exploiting us through shard rerolls and now chest reset potions.

I already bought Lamordia (ultimate)

BUT, I’m looking at these quests and apart from 1 or 2, the quality is looking lackluster (I can’t even spin this for them in the positive).

If they are extracting hundreds if not thousands of dollars a year (my god sometimes I feel like I have a second invisible car) from us at the very least they (EG7) can pay for more artists and other assets. I swear I can AI generate better boss art than this. (Once again not blaming the Devs just the funding/revenue matrices that EG7, corporate overlord, are using).
