should Video imbedding be removed from signatures?

simple question should video imbedding be encouraged in forum signatures?
here is my 2 cents. NO it takes away from the forum post topic and acts like an advertisement. As for streamers who do so I believe they should have to pay PER post if they wish to keep it in their signature in full just like any other advertisement. We already have a forum section for advertising our stuff. I am a streamer my self and even I have the restraint to not plaster my streams in every forum post.

If advertisers have to pay per Impression Streamers should be no different if they want to plaster it all over the forums instead of the dedicated forum section. I'm fine with them linking to their main page (website.here/name) for example but a full on imbedded video to get views COME ON The DDO forums isn't a place to scrape views (and consequently money) from on every post (I have a friend who is on twitch and they get money from ads and watch time) and I get paid the same way on YouTube.

So again my Vote is for No they should be removed or not allowed in your forum signature.

When I made my little signature with an image, I did notice it took too much space for anything large and quickly removed it. I kept my simple link to my twitch channel with a wee bit of small info about me instead.
Yes, putting large things in simple discussion threads is taking way too much space I must agree there. I had to turn off the option to see signatures as well as it kind of got annoying. I understand the want to show things to people but a simple link will suffice.

I did however post my full twitch information in the 'creator and maker' discussion thread.
May I make a suggestion that if people want to post larger images to do so in their 'profile post' ? That way anything large can be viewed in there if someone wishes to see your stuffs, and not take up a full screen.

Some signatures are small with really nice artwork, if kept small are really nice. So I agree to limit the size. (if you look at my signature, have kept it real small)

I'd say it would be fine if any videos in a signature get auto-hidden behind spoiler tags or the like. Also pics should be shrunk down if above a certain size.

It’s funny, I was going to turn off signatures today because I find the videos to be very distracting. I’d like to keep them visible in general though.

Having an embedded multimedia video in a Signature can be potentially abused; I am already noticing spambots getting through the forum login system. In fact there are several big name forum packages that don't even support signatures.

Having embedded video Signatures can be problematic for several reasons and some have already been discussed. I could list an armful of those issues, but to be honest I have better things to do. Using "click here" is not considered descriptive, and is ineffective for a screen reader user.

I also don't come here to watch the same obstructive or distractive embedded video commercial (in a Signature). There are already more suitable places in the DDO forum, where such video content can thrive, and actually be appreciated.

I'll likely employ an Content blocker, .e.g. uBlock Origin, to block your content if you try to shove video in your Signatures'.

If someone wants to place a tasteful text hyperlink in their Signature leading to a video site I don't have problem. MysticDragon_Littlemama's (current) text Signature links aren't in your face or stealing screen space.

I agree that video signatures would take too much away let alone may cause people problems as more and more threads have many of them.

The other is large signature blocks.

That is the solution I use, meaning that I don't actually care if they are allowed are not. I guess if they disallowed them I might turn them back on. But I might not as frequently even the images in signatures can be too irritating and noisy.

I am someone who LOVES forum signatures, and I've been able to draw as much or more attention to our guild recruitment thread than probably anyone on the DDO forums. That was/is with a still image. I have to vote no for the above reason (signature videos are bluntly just not necessary) but also from a forum moderator position (in another game) and a viewer. They are resource and screen hogs. From a marketing standpoint, they take valuable eyes away from SSG content, ads, and opens the site up to racial/pornographic/political/graphic adult content that can potentially do far more harm than a still photo can in a shorter period of time.
