Shuriken Monk Idea(s)

Hunt's end has come to a conclusion... How will multiclass shuriken monk pan out?

Sniper shot is a real thing, still... Any thoughts on a dragonlord +2 crit multi? The trade offs are costly, stacking rp stance to 25 is pretty strong. Maybe the new 11(12)x5 ranged power from destiny cores will make up for different builds. I love the 100 dex and solid starting point of shuriken, really helps ease into the gear tetris.

Who did the maths already, make with the goods!

DL crit mult is less important with shuri's low crit range...19-20 x4 is worse than 17-20x3 with ninja. You'd need to find a point of competence range somewhere, and that's not gonna leave enough monk levels for 10ks

Might just go 18 monk 2 pal for the aoe strike

3/5/12 Monk/Pal/DHunter. 3 Monk NiS for ANT, 5 Pal KotC provide many benefits like trance and AoE include t5 non-nerfed AoE, and DHunter for traps/locks. 3 free ranged feats, 3 free melee feats (good for HP) etc etc... 8)

I always sigh when i think about the wonders of a Bard-Monk would be. Ho hum.

If you have some racial AP then a nice variant could be...

6 Monk 12 Dark Hunter 2 Dark Apostate
Wis-based, Drow, chaotic neutral

Falconry 41 AP
DWS 21 AP for +1 crit etc
DA 8 AP for evil imbue +1 + ghost touch
Drow rest for + hit/dmg and +2 imbue die

I think you could play around with this idea and tweak it.

EDIT. Despite that lovely shuriken displayed below, it was an honest and silly mistake on my behalf to suggest DA's evil imbue. Mea culpa ;)
I do think a shuriken build would benefit from imbues greatly so that shouts Bard again, but you can't multi bard with monk. Grrr?! I need to think on this but I don't see an easy solution. A throwing knife build would be so much easier especially as an Alchemist.

DA imbue is Favored only and shuri can't be favored

I have no idea how that fortune is even possible... 30-40 different attempts maybe? How do you even bank enough attuned dino shurikens for the attempts? Maybe i need to run six different accounts, maybe 12? That way I can have enough chances to pull a dino shuri every 2nd or 3rd raid completion... Also pass all tokens... yup, that's exactly how to find gear in ddo... lol, what a joke

They're buyable via runes, so more like 20k+ runes stored up.

You forgot about halflings.
Master Thrower: You gain a +1 Competence bonus to the Critical Threat Range of returning thrown weapons.
if you got some racial points halfling is definitely a good option to drows. sneakattack dice is nice if you put some effort in shadowdancer and got snipershot from dws. I´m still a bit skeptic to dragon lord for shuricannon but it should be ok for a past life. DL it´s not that great for ranged I think, to much junk to pick to get the 2x multi. kensai is probably better.
alchemist was amazing when that imbue didnt require simple weapons but now it does.
halfling rogue/darkhunter/monk is a very strong classcombo I think. snipershot and
Assassin's Trick: Activate: Target opponent loses their immunity to sneak attack and 25% of their fortification for 15 seconds. (Cooldown: 6 seconds)
I played that some time years ago with ordinary ranger, no extra crit multi and it was very strong just with sneakattacks and the ability to remove immunity to sneakattack damage. dark hunter can give you an extra crit multi and halfling threat. I am not so sure the crit multi it is worth losing t5 dws but with dark hunter you can easely switch and try both. you will realy feel the conflict of greed with this combo though. you want to put points in every tree but you cant haha. to get a trance or not get a trance. if you like to multiclass it is a fun option. shadowdancer and Paranoia: When you activate your Shadowdancer Epic Strike, you imbue your weapons and spells with Evil energies for 10 seconds. You deal 1d6 per Sneak Attack Dice in Untyped damage on hit (scaling with Force Spellpower), and on a Vorpal strike, your attacks blind enemies with no save. This blind lasts 5 seconds and can apply to each monster once per 60 seconds.
this is pretty nice if you can get high force spellpower but it takes effort. the shiradi epic moment is is king though.

this is just some ideas to think about. the most important part is that you build something that you enjoy

CM+2 versus CM+1 and RP+50 is a net loss unless you can end up with a 15x5 thrower somehow or you have crazy high RP already. The big reason is that CM+2 only scales up your physical damage, not your sneaks. RP scales more of your damage line.

Hunt's End as a non-strike was actually a buff for builds with lots of sneak dice (my current ranged has ~37 iirc). You can use HE and also use SD's Paranoia. The strike isn't so hot, but having 37d6 scaled on Force every single hit more than makes up for loosing sniper. Hmm. I've not checked if Paranoia can crit or if it crits on kinetic lore and force-crit damage. If so, adding those to gear would be a big boost beyond just force power.

IIRC, the new very tippy top shurky throwers use this style, too. Can't get sneak as high as rogue based, but extra DS scales it (probably for greater effect).
