i'm not giving SSG any more of my hard earned money until they fix crap that's been broken for years instead of ignoring it and pumping out new content.. SSG is like Apple who is always trying to sell you the next iphone.

I bought the IOD ultimate bundle and it came with a teleporter clicky just like the sharn clicky and the feywild clicky... Says on it I can teleport to any of the other content that I already own... I try to teleport to ravenloft - says I don't own the content.. Sharn? nope... Feywild? Nope... What a minute!! I OWN all that content.. but because I bought those packs with points and didn't spend $100 on each expansion, the clicky won't let me port to the CONTENT THAT I OWN!

So SSG, you expect ALL the players to shell out a hundred bucks on every expansion you churn out just to use these feature?

how about you fix the content you already came out with, and shove the content you are trying to peddle??

I'm not buying myth drannor either. There is zero point to buy any new expansion since we know the level cap is being increased to 40, unless you are already on a max TR'd character. Otherwise, you're just wasting your money on content that will be outdated by the time you get to it.

i would say it is both.
You can absolutely and fully play this game without paying anything.
But it´s also pay to win, in the form that you can buy tomes, action points, past lives, etc. which all give gameplay advantages.

To be fair, there are lots of games which do this more aggressively than DDO (have you ever played a Wargaming title ? (World of Tanks/Warships)

And if you will not get Myth Drannor, you possibly won't be able to play through levles 32-33 comfortably due to the absent of new gear.

You can buy character power. That is commonly refered to as P2W for PvE games.

It's not a false definition just because you get offended by the connotations. It's a useful and well established defintion and I will keep using it.
It just seems dodgy to argue that DDO is not P2W by invoking a completely different defintion of P2W than what was presented in the post you replied to.

I’m staying away from the whole pay to win argument, since it’s a topic that is very subjective and neither side will ever “win”

However, on this point, I’d say that pushing through to level 34 is a one-time thing that can be prepped with the full set of sagas ready to go. Limping along will not be difficult.

Once SSG implements Legendary Reincarnation, and the free bump from L30 to cap goes away, then the additional quests and possibly gear will help you on the way to L40.

It is pretty amusing that you consider the most pointless activity in any game, killing another character who is effectively immortal as they respawn 100% of the time, as "winning." Pay to win usually means skipping past some portion of what is commonly called "the grind." If it takes time to get loot and you buy it outright (or get it 3 times faster by rerolling chests) that is pay to win.

By your definition it is impossible to win a single player game because you cannot kill anyone. Paying to win is getting to the "win" state faster. DDO is not a PvP game so obviously whatever the end goal is won't be killing other people more effectively.

Level increases will be tied to full expansions every 2 years. The off-years will be mini-expansions.

I’m just saying that anyone can manage to “limp along” with “inferior” level 30 Dino gear. Having the absolute latest level 34 gear is not absolutely required to push to the new L34 cap.

Players that prefer to wait for expansions to become available for points will have access to the content and gear before the next level cap increase in 2026. By the time L40 cap comes around in 2030, this Myth Drannor content will be mid-Legendary leveling quests/gear.

You are preaching to the choir. I never buy items in F2P games to speed up the grind because the grind IS the game. The last thing I want is to get to the end and be bored with nothing meaningful to do (i.e. the so-called end game). But for whatever reason people regularly pay their way past the actual game to sit at the end repeating the same boring content.
