So did most give up on the HC versions??

My gripe... Up to level 5 the Stalkers are pretty easy, remember the lanterns are similar to touch distance and have a cooldown, too far a distance and the lantern will not stun them. When you evolve the lantern enough you get a priest, archer, mage, fighter, and the original stalker all spawning at once this is a problem when you have one lantern with 3 charges and a 10 second cool down then to add insult to injury once all 5 are dead if your are lucky enough to kill them all, a large snake one spawns! So after using the first charge to stun and kill the priest, then the mage, then the original stalker you have nothing left for this bigger spawn if you manage to kill the last 2 with no charges!
For some reason the stalker in Heyton's Rest has spells that will stun you long enough that it will kill you with other spells. I was about to give up when I realized all the other stalkers in Korthos are easy. Skip that first one and you're ok, but it was a bit of a surprise on a new toon without any of the past life gear to help out.

Didn't do the HC one but took a non-HC one just to see how hard the mist stalkers hit. First encounter was with one and 5 or 6 adds. My no equipment cleric had to pull out every stop I could think of to survive, including jamming myself between two trees to limit the amount of fronts they could attack from. Even with spamming cures I only just made it, with a sliver of power left.

In the end I ended up with 8/750 durability.

So, thats when I gave up on the event. Just enjoying the new server. My bank is already completely full of cosmetics anyway.

If I was doing skulls, I'd probably would have leveled to 3 or 4 before equipping that lantern. But a tactical way to play would be to do a non-skull latern on your 1st life. Get goodies like a harper pin (to break any low level stuns), pale lav, other nice gear, and some RXP at cap on that life. TR, grab skull lantern, and go in OP on life #2. If you die, swap to another non-skull latern, grab that reward while leveling up, TR again and retry the skull lantern the next life.

I had to re-roll a few times before I got the hang of it. I'm mainly using the skull lanterns in wilderness areas and in normal or hard versions of quests that I've already completed on elite without any lantern. That way I can level up to use a stronger character. It's a little slow, but I haven't died. It's mainly a nice break from the TR hamster wheel.

Still going with HC lanterns. I like that we can skip quests we dont enjoy or that can make us vulnerable to the mist stalker spawns.

The lantern attack doesnt seem to always stun the mist walkers but most of the time one of our lanterns gets a stun and then the beat down is very quick lol. We always stay close in case of a spawn and it has been quite easy so far. DPS burst helps a lot.

We are at around 200/2000 so far for the tiger mount playing 1-2 hours a session playing 3 levels over now at level 6.

Lol my other response was before this one, but of course your response is to expect so many players to spend their time TRing a toon on a beta test server, farming gear, sone have already found the event a waste of time in the first five levels and you are suggesting they TR!!

Roflmao!!

👍🏻👍🏻😉

Cormyr is no more a "beta test server" than any other permanent server. Take that however you like.

I suggest not, its easier to shutdown Cornyr at any moment and they can then examine any data they wish to see what is overperforming and bring in more nerfs.

Be wary!

The laterns can be filled over multiple lives. At 24, I'm half-way done on the mount lantern and I've had it equipped the whole time. There's 4 other lanterns (9 others if you want skull & non-skull cosmetics) that I could do that are at zero progression. So one could either park cap and swap thru each latern to fill them or just TR and do the next latern each time. So one can easily plan out to TR and do the hardest stuff afterwards.

I’m in the same boat as Rabid, except I only have 120/2000 on my lantern. It’s looking like a lot of time away from my main back on Ghallanda.
Hah. I know that feeling. I want the mount, shield, and pet. I'm currently ~600/1,500 into the shield and I haven't even started the others.
