So i take it, you can only earn favor for first time completion of a given quest ?

You get the favor corresponding to the highest difficulty you've completed a quest on.

So if you do a quest on normal, and then later the same quest on elite, you get more favor than you had before. Let's say, Grim and Barett. 6 favor for normal. If you do elite later, you get 12 more (for the max of 18 you can get from this quest).

But you cannot just farm the same quest over and over for favor, no.

So if i do that quest on elite only ones i do not have to do that quest ever again since it won't give me any more favor.

Correct. Elite gives the max favor possible.

You can run it again for more xp (a lot less than first time completion), or loot, or fun, but not favor, no.

And note that Epic Elite counts as Elite so for those quests with heroic and elite versions you get no more for the epic version.

One small note - favor resets whenever your character does a Heroic, Racial or Iconic Reincarnation.
You get to keep the free DDO points you earned by gaining that favor, but any other favor benefits - like extra inventory from the Coin Lords, access to some shops or faster regeneration in town - are lost.
One notable exception is unlocking universal enhancement trees, like Vistani or Falconry. Once you unlock one of those through favor, you get to keep them unlocked for that character the next go around.

Also note that some quests have distinct Legendary versions that also give favour. Examples are Tempest's Spine and the Shroud.

You also keep classes & races - warforged with 400 total, artificer with the top tier house cannith favour & favoured soul with 2500 total

Just to clarify
You don't have to ever do that quest again THAT LIFE.
It resets on TR, but the above mentioned perks stay.
Favor does not stay, you can do it again every life.

OK so just to clarify...

Herioc's - Highest difficulty for highest favor and doing N/H/E does not stack favor for a higher total than Elite?
Epics - if its in Heroic already, then doing epics does not grant any favor so need to do in Heroic's?
Legendary - get's favor on all quests?

You don't need to do it in heroics, you can do either or both, but you'll only receive favor once regardless of the order.

Same is true for legendary variations as well.

To summarize: The real grind is reincarnations. It goes like:
Do quests on elite for favor -> Reach lv20 -> Reincarnate -> Char goes back to lv 1 -> Do quests on elite again for more favor.

You cannot get more total favor per quest than the elite grant. Doing normal-hard-elite will still only give you the elite total, you will just get it in small increments. Example fo ra low level max 6 favor quest: you'll get 2 for the normal, two for hard, two for elite, totalling six. If you just run elite you'll get six.

Correct, if it's already in heroic epics will not give you more favor. Your adventure compendium will keep a nice record for you of what is dong and not done.

Legender does NOT get favor on all quests, that poster was mentioning SOME legendaries are coded as separate quests. In this example, they have a separate entry in the adventure compendium. If there is not a second entry, there will not be a second favor reward.
