So it looks like Shadowdale is the new IT server?

Indeed! Long live Thrane!

I fully understand why people would want to stay away from thrane, and trust us, we are not forcing you to come. this is a great opportunity for leaders to join those of 2 different camps, shadowdale for learning the game and gaining past lives at a leisurely rate with a fun and accepting community, and thrane where more experienced players blast lives in hours, not weeks, and run r10's and reaper raids often, which comes with a less accepting attitude and expecting others to carry their own weight. Neither of these choices are bad. chose what you want and go with it. nobody is holding a gun to anyone's head. Of course individual friends are going to stick together, but they were never worried about server politics anyway.

also, ive seen some players that are in more casual guilds that are headed to non thrane servers drop lately and join with guilds that are headed to thrane in search of r10's and reaper raids as opposed to r4- and hard raids. ive not seen the same movement going the other way.

well, that worked too well!

everyone should enjoy the server that they pick

when i say that shadowdale is for learning the game, i did kinda think that it would imply that there were those there that could teach it. and that has been proven correct by the people that are in fact joining shadowdale. I simply cannot join because elminster talks too much and pikes, and forgotten realms sucks.

Can't do too much talking when an entire server has you /squelched before the server even opens! 😆

Anyone who has taken ZPR seriously here, clearly has never run with him. Legit one of the most helpful people in game, he runs many a puglet through the gauntlet with nothing but open arms… he’s a Crimson Eagle errr Beagle after all ;)

I would so love to establish a flowersniffing community on Thrane ;)
Everyone can test the servers for a while and if they really turn out that much different from server culture it will be easy to chose.
I do prefer a more versatile server so I can flowersniff in the morning when I wake up and zerg R10s after I had lunch.
And on the off-chance all turns pear-shaped there are lots of games out there.

Go out there and find a home, stake your plot, hoist the flag and never surrender!

Cheers,
Titus

Oh I wasn't talking about you being squelched! I don't know you that would be a silly thing to do.

But I'm sure I'll see you on Thrane sometime as I plan to move one of my project toons there while my main server will be SD, there are folk going to thrane I don't want to lose contact with and also variety

Obviously.

What does "it server" mean? As in what it refers to? It'll be the server computer literate people will join? It'll be the server that has IT support?
I will surmise that the OP was suggesting that shadowdale is the destination server. A homage to the term " it girl".

However rumor has it Shadowdale will have the best IT support of all servers. 🤣

Ye actually take Elminster at his word? He's likely to change his mind 4 or 5 more times before Tuesday. And Thrane was his first love, though he likely now thinks Elminster belongs in Shadowdale. He could also change his name a few more times before Tuesday so who knows. Ye shouldn't think ye're out of the woods yet.

Guild leaders, and potential new recruits looking for a guilde... In my opinion—and that’s all it is—this whole debate over which server to choose should really take a backseat to the question of which guild to join.

Both Shadowdale and Thrane are going to offer solid endgame content, casual play, and everything in between. The real difference comes down to the guilds. These are the people you’ll be logging in and running with regularly. That’s your community.

If you're a guild leader, build relationships with other guild leaders and coordinate dual-guild runs. It’s one of the best ways to maximize fun and engagement in DDO.

Tyrs is based on Thrane, but I can tell you firsthand—there are some fantastic guilds on Shadowdale too.

Ultimately, the guilds that prioritize their guildies and make sure everyone’s running together at least once a week? Those are the ones that thrive and grow, no matter which server they call home.
