So we're just blatantly using Generative AI now in the new cosmetics.

There are game engines utilizing AI already, why shouldn't DDO explore it's usefulness as a smaller company?
We were all given warnings the artists of the world will be one of the first demographics affected.
I for one have an issue with the AI command "create" as it isn't creating it's recreating, if AI needs to "learn" it is doing so at the worlds expense.

@cdbd3rd nailed it, I won't wear that cloak either. (no matter how it was made)

Technology will advance, but that is not the issue.
The issue is licensing. If they are using images for commercial purposes without agreement to the copyright holders, then there is an issue of copyright infringement. iirc unfortunately Meta won their 7 million books lawsuit on grounds of "fair use" due to the AI model not being a "book" itself, which is a very short sighted ruling when considering the purpose of it is to make written works which do directly compete.
Based on that precedent you do not need to pay for photoshop because you are using it to make pictures which are not programs that edit pictures. So fair use. It is a vapid argument, but here we are. They use your pictures to make a program.
Fair use is better for things like a video of DDO gameplay. Such a video cannot be used as a substitute for DDO, neither can it be used to make DDO substitutes.
If they just used royalty free, public domain, and properly licenses images there would be no real issue.

Wait, are you using an AI engine to decide if another AI engine was being used? Gratz to SSG for exploring contemporary techniques to create.
Using ChatGPT, SUNO, Hedra, KREA, Photoshop and Filmora. I have used AI to generate 100% AI music and music video, please like :D
video is okay.. I don't like the music at all ugg.

We need laws and regulations forbidding non artists access to AI.
AI was trained on artists works that artists learned from other artists works, and only real certified artists should be allowed to use the AI that was trained on 'their' art as only artists know how to make real art using AI as a productivity helper.
They can take that AI models output as a rough base output and tweak it to be a masterpiece.
The non artist common little people do not know anything about art and need to be forbidden from doing art using AI and learning anything.
God forbid we allow access to tools that lowers the barrier to entry and democratizes creation and allows anyone with an idea the ability to bring that idea into reality.
There shall be no sharing the wealth in art business, we must have some regulatory capture here!
We needs some serious gatekeepin' to keep the millions of the unwashed masses from having access to tools that can put artists outa work!
Laws and regulations to outlaw access to AI unless you are a certified artist that has studied and practiced for years in a creative art to actually get paid to do it.
We gotta get the King or the UN Emperor to help artists out here and write up an EO until they can make them laws.
If'n we don't get this done ASAP, history gonna repeat itself.
Artists gonna go the way of stagecoach builders when cars came out, and calligraphers when printing presses where developed, or flintstone arrowhead makers when metal smithing became a thing.
History man, gotta learn from history or we gonna just be repeating it again and again!
They coulda saved those jobs if they just had allowed access to the new stuff to only them thar accredited users.

Thanks for the feedback. We followed up on the cloaks and the artist showed us the layered source files for the asset. We don't use AI for art assets, nor do we plan to use AI for art assets. The cloaks were created by our artists using typical art tools. I don't know why this utility falsely flagged this art as AI.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think this is an actual line crossed. You guys make enough money to hire an artist to do this stuff.

Using generative AI tools to make cosmetics is a new low of lazy from SSG. Prove me wrong otherwise, share the rough sketches, the concept art and the final product that was all done digitally by hand, or don't even bother defending it.

used Sightengines very BASIC tool to detect anything, and lo and behold, 82% likelyhood, with Reve being the main contender used.

Saying "blatantly" and then relying on this tool as your evidence is hilariously inappropriate

My guess (and it is only a guess as I haven't tested it myself as I don't feel like editing a screenshot to isolate a character from the background in order to replicate the effect) is the model being in focus with a background that is out of focus. That is not how things normally appear in game with screenshots (at least not with my settings, which are mostly default/best settings detected), and when I threw some of my DDO pics into a detector I saw it reference how game screenshots look and are textured.

It makes the models/art you want to showcase pop out more, so you succeeded there, but I suspect that is what "confused" the ai detector.

AI can be part of an Art tool application. Suggesting colors and ideas, patterns and actual shapes, shadows, lighting (im an artist, but I only use a paintbrush for now)

Two questions, one, what are you smoking? And two, do you mind passing it around? Thanks.

he/she? has a point. I work with a dude who is on his way to become an art teacher. He has Zero Art experience, and as an artist i am offended. Students won't learn some of the very basics is sad. There's a lot of Art teachers like this I am seeing because its an easy button diploma.

he showed us pictures of his Projects... looked like a 12 yr old did them

It can be very easy to spot ai art. It still struggles with human proportions, proper posing, etc. On the other hand, how this guy has zero art experience but is still moving into this field is definitely sad. Not so much about ai, but for any school that would hire him. As with anything AI, AI can do all the work for you, but if you can't turn up the same results without it, it's more of a crutch than an aid, and knowledge shows.

First of all, I don’t see any general problem with AI-generated content; for me, the only important thing is that it has high quality. As I understand it, we currently only have LLMs, and even though they can already do impressive things, they are still far away from real intelligence—something we could call a general AI (AGI) or even a super-AI.

Because of this, AI is often not even able to reliably identify art or other content as AI-generated. Therefore, using an AI tool as “proof” that something was generated by AI is not really trustworthy.

Personally, I’m looking forward to a real AGI and even a super-AI. It will be very interesting to see what such a system will be capable of, and I’m not afraid of what might happen. I believe that a super-AI has great potential to improve our lives, even if this potential comes with the danger that such an AI could turn against humanity.
