Solo Guilds

I am fairly new to the game, having loosely played it a few times over the years but until now I didn't really dedicate to it. Lately I decided to go back to MMOs and immediately latched on to DDO, I made my own guild and even created a second account and made both VIP so I could thoroughly enjoy my solo experience.

The guild is leveling nicely as one might expect at level 9, but I'm wondering about guild amenities. but I started wondering about some things and since I couldn't find the viable answers online I figured I'd pose them here, so
Do I have to have the airship to access things like guild bank and vendors?
Do I have to constantly pay platinum to keep and maintain the guild amenities every month?
Do the amenities have a time limit on usage or can I buy and place then not have to worry about it?

Overall I'm enjoying having my own healer and duo team to play with and I'm trying to save up to get all of the expansions for both accounts. I just missed the code giveaway when I came back and only got a couple of the quest packs and expansions so far.
I want to build my guild as a soloist to 150 and maintain it for the perks but I need to understand how it all works, any advice or information is greatly appreciated.

Yes, its called The Orien Express

No, once you buy it, its yours, however, you still need plat or shards to upgrade it.

As above.

I also run a solo guild, people complain too much plat, need to throw, I complain not enough plat, give me!

Trivia, the biggest ship cost 4000 astral shards, took me 3 years of trading cross servers to earn it. Currently my ship is level 49 only, slowly building it up. You can deposit the astral shards in the airship show room if you afraid you might accidentally spend it (It will happen, like double click the dice). Good luck!

Basically the best bonus you get for guild renown is with 6 accounts = small guild renown bonus. Everything will be smooth until you hit lvl 150. From that lvl on until you reach 200 you lose some renown every day but can't fall lower than 150 again.

There are 2 kind of amenities. The ones in the Cargo hold are old ones. Those are time limited and you have to buy them again and again. This is unnecessary because the features are covered by the other amenities on the decks. Those you have to purchase only one time either with platinum or astral shards. But you need to have the spots on your ship. Some of the Cargo hold ones are regularly purchased for convenience. For exmaple you can have the bank, a bar, a mailbox and the auctioneer all close together in the Cargo.

Cheers,
Titus.

The only 2 things in my hold is the 2 chest, one keep potions, one keep things like keys, cryatal cove ports, dragonshards.

The one on the ship are all rare scrolls.

Yes, its called The Orien Express
This is not correct. The Orien Express amenity is AH, character/account Bank, Mail all in one place. The guild bank where every member/officer has access to additional chests is called Guild Storage.
There is no amenity with guild vendors. You have to go to House K for that. There are amenities for normal vendors though.

Titus.

The family guild is closing in on level 70 and what will probably be our final airship, so I'm pretty pleased.

One thing not yet clarified is there are two types of amenities on the ships. The old legacy cargo hold requires plat to maintain, but the upper levels do no expire. And yes, I do maintain several things (bank, mail, auction, tavern) in the old cargo hold as a quick one stop. Running through ships, especially larger ones, is not my thing.

So I've got a 176 solo guild. Some tips I've learned in the LONG LONG journey there.

1. Make sure if you don't have 6 ACCOUNTS on the guild, get 6 accounts in there. Just roll up some dummy accounts, get them in guild, log them in once a month to keep them active. This will give you the max small guild renown bonus. I rolled up 5 bard bot accounts, got them the free coupon packs and 99 tp expansions, and they are parked at 6/12/17/24/32 for a bard bot for any level range in quests level 4+. But even if you dont level them etc. GET 6 TOTAL ACCOUNTS. (and make them all officers so they have access to the guild storage chests).

2. Sagas sagas sagas. You can earn a TON of guild renown if you do every saga in the game heroic/epic/legendary. Do all of them, chug a guild renown pot (even the least expensive ones are a HUGE bonus) and claim the big renown reward. If you do that you will get probably over 3 million guild renown at once. (Mine was at about 2.5 million last time I did this getting to 150, but this was before saltmarsh, IOD etc. for those.) You can stop doing this at 150,because that's when you have every functional thing available.

3. Unless there is a very rare item in the quest end reward list, get the renown if it's available. And if you get your bard bot accounts, park them in the quest and they can claim the renown reward too.

4. You don't need to spend any actual money on the guild to get it to 150 with every buff. Buy the plat boats, the 150 plat boat will hold every buff available if you get the state rooms that consolidate some of the others. START SAVING YOUR ASTRAL SHARDS NOW. Do not spend them. You'll need a bunch to get a lot of the amenities later on. (can clarify this to give exact room layout later if you need it). Also, periodically check the ah and shard exchange, you may find some amenities there cheaper than what they cost to buy.

5. You don't NEED the cargo hold things that expire, but they are convenient. At the very least get the chests for extra storage. I also have bank/auction/tavern/mail in mine just for convenience.

6. Have one deck that has the rooms you might actually need to visit. Orien Express/Sellsword Tavern/Guild Vault/Feast Hall (spirit binder)/ Crafting Hall/Collegium of the 12 (vendors). Very convenient to have all that on one deck eventually.

7. Don't grind it. You get renown as you play the game. You focus too much on the grind and you'll burn out. Just play the game and enjoy watching the level grow. That ding at 150 is pretty damn satisfying when you get there. It was a ton of fun to upgrade things when I got there.

Need any tips or pointers feel free to ask anytime. And have fun!

Aside from the six account boost to renown you also get more chances of helpful stuff via daily dice on the extra accounts.

Renown bonus weekends and the 15k token from sagas can be your best friend for leveling the guild quickly, especially with multi-boxing. Look carefully at the breakpoints for amenities - level 55 is a great target because at level 50 you can upgrade storage and level 55 increases the airship buff duration to 4 hours.

On amenities, aside from the guild chests, don’t overlook the value of Three Finger Thad’s and the Farshifter Chamber. The clothing vendor in Three Finger Thad’s periodically has very helpful clickies like 3 charges of shield, protection from evil, or expeditious retreat. The farshifter lets you go to any of the city zones plus places like gianthold, menechtarun, etc quickly

Oh I got a good trick on Three Finger Thads if you are in need of some nice level 1 clickies like he mentioned. If you visit the vendor, and he doesnt have any clickies, place a different room where you have Three Fingers, then place Three Finger there again and it will reset the inventory. Can farm up a couple clickies if you need them. (At least that used to work, been a minute!)

Watch the auction house. It's not at all unusual to find guild amenities there for steep steep discounts, even platinum because the people pulling them (they are a very rare loot drop) are almost always in a guild that doesn't need them.

If it is on the shard exchange though make sure you do your homework there. A couple of times I have seen things posted there for many times what it would cost to buy in the store.

You can just activate the hookpoint and deactivate/put it in storage and get it active again.

If you can swing it buy the Kraken right out the gate. You won't need to buy the Grand Reliquary. You will save around 900 shards buy not having to buy those.
