No offense but this is getting very old, @Cordovan when will we stop seeing datamining on the forums? it's boring and it ruins the fun of every secret and community hunt.

it just baffles me.

- Datamining the game and posting it on discord and the forums? SSG: "i sleep"
- Reacting with a laugh emoji? SSG: "real ****"

My theory...

Catastrophe was born from a community building event where we got to decide certain features about this quest. Some of which I think happened at a convention iirc (may of been at gencon~ but i think it was pax or pax east.... memory fuzzy)

Which would make the place of the announcement the clue. Very meta.

Also, the building of said quest was heavily featured on the Joys of Deving with Nohbob which.. was a thing on the internet.. jimothy is from the internet... might be a stretch but the shoe technically fits.

If neither of those was true.... a community made Jimothy famous.. so putting him in the community build quest.. kinda just makes sense.

You're more or less on the answer here, plus Catastrophe being a free dungeon (so free players can get him too).

Catastrophe came about after a player poll was used as a part of a PAX East panel in 2023 hosted by Cordovan, featuring Tolero, Nohbob, Artemist, and Torc, with the latter three pitching their ideas based on the poll results to Tolero. The panel was designed to show us how the devs pitched and then selected quests to add to the game. Nohbob's entry won and he did a series of streams on DDOstream (now uploaded to Youtube) showing us how he built the dungeon. Cordo eventually provided the DM voice for the quest.

Shoutout to some random player on Cormyr who sent me a /tell as I was about to jump into the quest as part of my RTR loop, makes sense to put that trash panda in the streets. It was that or in Come Out In Slay that would've made the most sense for f2p.

I’m really enjoying these puzzles. I wish they were bit longer though. Maybe we just have too much time on our hands, well some of us do 😅 i remember when the dull dagger came and it took ages. But absolutely loving these. Wouldn’t mind a wee puzzle few times a year.

It would have been fun if you had to talk to Random npcs in public areas that offered vauge clues and built up the lore a little more. which is what i did before i seen this post. But the mini event was fun none the less. thank you SSG :)
