Some artificer 1st lifer builds

There's been some talk of bring back the Lava Divers 1st lifer challenge https://forums.ddo.com/index.php?threads/lava-divers-presents-first-life-raid-push-challenge.10267/ And with upcoming Fey hardcore style event, it seemed like good time to post a couple 1st lifer builds. Both builds work off the concept that you take a +2 DEX tome when you hit 1750 favor so they'll have enough DEX for Improved Precise Shot. If you never use IPS, then you can save yourself that effort (if you hit the level where the build takes IPS and you don't have the favor yet, just take any feat and then later use Fred whenever you get the dex tome to take it).

I leveled the 1st build recently and it worked out nicely. Haven't leveled the 2nd build yet, may do that for the Fey Event.


This first build is a 20 arti utility bubble build with a bit of pew pew on the side. It does less damage than a pure DPS build but it'll hold it's own while helping keep teammates alive between rad forcefields, heal pots, and using converter on someone to allow repairing them. This build doesn't require racial AP nor univeral AP tomes; if you have them, then you can spend those extra points towards whatever you like.

This second build is aimed doing a bunch of DPS. It uses Gnome to get threat range, t4 Battle Engineer for crit and fusilade/imbue, and t5 Deepwood Stalker for more goodies plus higher stacks of archer's focus. It's self-forged so you can use repairs spells on yourself and gets reconstruct for a lvl 6 spell (or use deadly instead to make damage for yourself/others a bit higher). This build's AP spend is based off having a +3 racial tome & the 3 tomes for universal AP (it may not dial back well without having most/all of those).

I'll post the epic destiny AP setup soon; I didn't apparently put in that planner before I copied/pasted. They go the standard shiradi/fatesinger/shadowdancer. Both builds went lawful alignment with Embodiment of Law so I could swap to Divine Crusader if needed for certain raid group composites. Going chaotic alignment with Harbinger of Chaos feat instead is 2% more doubleshot but doesn't make for easy respec into Divine Crusader t5 setups; just a personal choice for whatever works best for your goals.

Both builds can use this basic ED setup with adjustments to fit your needs and any DP tomes you have:

Like Phoenicis said, Endless Fusillade. It's the bread and butter ability for xbow users.


How you generate this nice format for the build?
I'm making a build, certainly sub optimal but would like to share.
I did these in DDO builder lite> export > to forums > format: forums > copy to clipboard. Then in the forums, I toggled on BB code edit mode (the [ ] symbol on the upper right of any post), pasted in the code format, then toggled off BB code edit.

I'm currently running this build on a first lifer character.
It's an amazing build! I'll make a post about this build with some changes I made to run medium/high reaper content even with low lives.
But overall, have you made any updates to this build, anything that improved it?

Awesome. I'd love to hear what changes you did and how they worked out. With the holidays & winter event, what time I have been online has been spent on other lives so I haven't made any updates to that build yet. I noticed I managed to forget to grab extend on it (which is fairly bread & butter for artificers I take into raids), so I plan to tweak the feats around a little bit.

That was exactly one of the changes. Extend was by far a good choice

I have a question... what would be the point of having 15 levels in Artificer if we don't gain anything from those 15 levels?

... wouldn't it be better to have 1 level in Barbarian for movespeed or 3 level in Fighter for extra feats?

I have a question... what would be the point of having 15 levels in Artificer if we don't gain anything from those 15 levels?

... wouldn't it be better to have 1 level in Barbarian for movespeed or 3 level in Fighter for extra feats?
15 arti does give stuff. It gives 6th level spells, so a choice between reconstruct or deadly slotted:
It's self-forged so you can use repairs spells on yourself and gets reconstruct for a lvl 6 spell (or use deadly instead to make damage for yourself/others a bit higher).
Those are things I like having. Reconstruct being great for leveling/soloing/if a group needs some extra heals (when mixed with converter cookies). Or switch to deadly if I'm the only arti in a raid.

@rabidfox I have a 1st lifer Arti and decided to turn it into your bubble version to be more useful for my guild in raids.
What repeater is best at epic levels? Or just use Epic Storm as Inquisitive and swap back at cap?

Is there any specific gear I have to farm to be a proper bubble arti or I gear myself for defense/offense as usual?
Gear for the situation. For general arti gear setup that'll work with it, I'd just use @Epicsoul 's gearset from here: https://forums.ddo.com/index.php?threads/epicsouls-cyborg-build.10077/ (swap the armor to the fleshy equivalent) I have an older gearset posted on here: https://forums.ddo.com/index.php?threads/bubble-utility-arti-build-r10-push-raid-capable.287/ But for the most part, I just go with general ranged pew pew stats and mix in whatever additional survival stats I might need for any given raid. With all the rare gear and rare solar augments out there, it's hard to give decent tetris advice these days, because if you don't already have any given rare item I wouldn't recommend a gear set using it.

I also like to make both light and medium versions of armors for my gearsets (same sets, same augs). So I can choose between going evasion with light or higher MRR with medium. Where I'll swap based off any given raid I'm in.
