Someone on Cormyr has my name... and it kinda sucks

And they have said they are working on the new transfer system to do just that! Repeated saying the same thing. . . . . . .
Please read what I have written, because your reading comprehension has completely failed you.

You have no need to act as a white champion for SSG, because I didn't say they wouldn't do that. Read first before replying with something that has nothing to do with what you've quoted.

Definitely, I don't agree with offline renaming. I've just sent them a mail in hopes of having a conversation, and I think that'll be about the best I can do
Have you considered moving to another 64-bit US server instead of Cormyr? Cormyr will be just one of several 64-bit servers located in the USA.

Plenty of toons are going to sit at level 1 for now for a reason. I am guessing many players including myself are waiting to see how this whole cormyr server transfer and any other new 64 bit server transfers are going to play out before investing any playtime on the new servers(i mean other than claiming all ten lanterns during the event). But most certainly I have claimed names that I want if I do end up playing on cormyr if playing there is a logical step going forward.

I knew when the server came up that it was first come first claim, so did everyone else, everyone has their own past experiences and names can be related to any of those. For example i could maybe possibly have played pen and paper when younger and played an ongoing campaign where all the players rolled up the gimpiest of builds and everytime we did, I always named my character Strimtom. Its only legit that in a video game it would be reasonable for me to take that name when creating a new toon on the new server and run it as the gimpiest player like it had always been in my past. If someone takes the names I like so be it and move on to a different name.

Nobody is Paris Hilton and nobody can copyright “That’s Hot” as theirs and only theirs.

Special Note: I guess some people could lay claim to certain names and then be “entitled” to those names, but that would definitely show that SSG is bias and/or shows favouritism to certain players in game.

and people reading the first part will assume that they are not doing it. A better way of stating it would be "If the upgraded transfer system doesn't hit the transfer of XXX then I won't be transfering".

Has to be on the payroll, i am also guessing we are all being prepped for an upcoming revision that will make threnal an abomination. Hopefully they will rename all the npc’s in there because the original names should be kept by their original owners lol.

So you're jumping in as a white champion in response to an imaginary threat—that other posters won't be able to read the entire post? Um 🤦‍♂️ Anyway, I'll just say you don't need to babysit the rest of the posters either. Especially because you're quoting me as if I said something I didn't say.

My main's name was taken on Cormyr... just posting because, as minor as this is, it is honestly putting a damper in my enthusiasm (on both Cormyr and main server).

Originally, I wasn't too bothered, as I thought this would be VIP-only or a bit more temporary. Now, it seems Cormyr is transitioning to the premier experience, and I'm feeling kind of left out?

Wondering if anyone can relate!

(Also, wondering if anyone can think of a solution besides appending a number to the back of my name? but if it must be, it must be).
People literally did this to troll people. I posted about it a while back . But when has the developers made smart choices 🤔

Yes indeed yes, has anyone tried to see if whitechampion has been taken on the cormyr server or budofgorgon even?

This is an off-topic I won't go into more depth, but didn't you hate magic and spellcasters? (or so you have repeatedly claimed in a rather... loud manner). Mmm, psychologists could say something about the need to choose names for concepts you hate.

Don't worry about this for now. Once we know more about the available servers, we can make better plans. You might not even want to transfer your characters to Cormyr; after all, Cormyr won't be the only server, and we still don't know which one will be the best choice for us to move to.

I hope SSG bans everyone who attempts blackmail, and I certainly encourage reporting those who fall prey to blackmail attempts.

I would never pay a blackmail for a character name; there are millions of names to choose from for free, but this behavior should not be allowed and should be severely punished.

And recommending doing it doesn't seem ethical to me either.
I must have been really unclear. There is no blackmail in the Everquest system. Months before the server opens, they basically say "on Tuesday anyone whose character has over 200 days played on it may log in to that already existing and long played character, pay daybreak three dollars and register that name on the new server." A week later they do 150 days played. A week after that they do 100 days and so on. That way the people with the most time invested in the name get first crack at having that name on the new server.

It also allows the company a couple of bucks for setting up the system. It's a super fair system.

I discovered when Cormyr was VIP only that I could make a character, although I could not progress to playing. So I went ahead and made characters with my two main names. When transfers open (and even then not sure I would move since I am happy where I am) I will have to do a fast delete and transfer. Do I feel guilty? A little. Not enough to actually not do it, however.

Well, it seemed like you were encouraging people to reserve other toon names and then ask them for money to release them. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

But, man, don't give SSG bad ideas. SSG already has enough questionable business practices without giving them more ideas. If SSG starts being usurious, even with the names in the transfers they're promoting, I think many players will say goodbye.

True story... 🤣

Mate of mine went to register his son's name at the town hall.

Being one for a good chat, he cheerfully asked the registrar if she ever came across some real weird ones.

Yes she told him, often they would just look at he person, realise they were nutters and get on with it, but if they thought there might be a glimmer of IQ in there, they might try a friendly chat, which in fact led to her colleague having an embarrassing experience only a week before...

Apparently this guy had turned up and wanted to name his kid after a character in Lord of the Rings.

Looking at him, the registrar decided it was worth offering some friendly advice:

"I hope you don't mind me saying, but do you really think that naming your son "Gandalf" is a good idea in this day and age?"

Bridling with suppressed fury the guy replied:

"What are you on about!?!

...It's never done me any harm!"

True story. 🤣👍

Why do you feel guilty? SSG actually encouraged this. And you used your mains' names, not just stealing other people's names.

Yet another chance to advocate for using either both names as the unique identifier or slapping an @"account name" in the database on the end of all our character names, or even both!
The transfers to the 64-bit server are gonna be nightmares for character names and I simply do not want to deal with it. Even if my character is the only one left on a legacy 32-bit server.
