Sorc update needed

I think the last time the sorcerer class was updated by DDO was in the year 1854. I wonder when it will happen again? For those of you who follow this more closely than I is there any scuttlebutt?

Savant trees are actually pretty good. Boring, but good...but they serve the needs of sorc, boosting their casting with relevant stats and especially caster levels. Sorc is a very basic class by design - just kill everything with fire (/acid/cold/electric) - so it doesn't need its trees to define its gameplay as much as other classes

The only thing they need a tweak on is improving their sla selection. And maybe the passive abilities outside of wind dance, but those are always going to be an afterthought anyway

Caster DPS in general needs an update in high reapers...but that horse has been beaten to death, resurrected, beaten to death again. It appears that as long it's great for leveling in R1, SSG (and a significant portion of the player base) doesn't think it's an issue.

Oh never mind, you said 1854, that one sucked sweaty badger fur.
Literally one of my favorite movies.

y, the savants should get the T5 replaced that buffs other elemental dmg, makes no sense in modern ddo.

I think it used to be one subclass with multi selectors, before there were trees.

Anyway, some of their special abilities and SLAs are dated and need an update. There should probably also have a bit more CHA/Evo DC. Otherwise they are OK if you factor in the capstone.

As others said, the problem is the scaling of late-game spell DPS builds in general, and most of this is a systems and epics problem. Besides picking up a mantle, your DPS rotation will usually look very similar at L18 and L34. 90% of epic abilities, feats/spells etc really do not contribute much. They need to increase damage of all epics abilities by at least 30% across the board for them to be worth using.

imo they should nerf the heavy dmg Spells of sorc/wizard/cleric Level 9, maybe just more cooldown (2 times as high). And then give out more spellpower, (max) caster levels or spell crit dmgfactor to make lower spells more impactful.

epic destines dont give that many new dmg spells anyway or they are epic strike, share cooldown and the destiny only buffs 1 epic strike.

yeah, doubling the cool down of the damage spells is a great idea... would really help them out
