Yeah I don't want DDO to fail, but milking the few whales is not it. Whales would be lonely ingame if regular players leave over loot frustration.
This effectively is already happening with me. I used to post a group every time I logged in. I was well known as a party host on my server and made friends with new players every life (since I was always meeting new players when posting groups for low level quests).

Now I play the game by myself with 3 accounts. When I get to level 13, I post for Desert Caravan followed by From Beyond the Grave (since I find those difficult to solo, particularly the second one). I post for In the Demon's Den at level 20 (though frequently end up doing it with just 1 other person if no one else joins). I post or join for a single epic run of the Vault of Night and Chronoscope raids. I post for one run of the 4 card quests when I get to level 34 (all of the above having all 3 of my accounts in the party). Then, the day or two before I TR I will join other people's raids to get some extra favor even though, as a Warlock, I contribute almost nothing to the party.

Everything else is solo. I went from being a valuable member of the community to someone that nearly doesn't exist. And why did I do this? Loot. I grew tired of running entire expansions and get zero items worth keeping. I started to play with a second account as well and found I was having more fun in spite of quests taking longer. I added a 3rd account at the end of the last life and I am liking it even more. 3 accounts means I average just over 1 named item per quest (which is what I always felt should be the drop rate, just like heroic borderlands). I still run entire sagas and get zero items worth keeping, but at least I have a chance of getting something with a reaper or higher mythic bonus.

The loot system has killed the social aspect of the game for me. Loot acquisition is slow an inefficient enough that I have sacrificed playing with others to increase the rate of getting loot worth keeping. At this point I am basically just a drain on the servers as I spend nothing and contribute very little to other players. And this is simply because of loot choices the developers made.

Oh, those, OMG, PAYING CUSTOMERS who whines about how rare MD's loot is, while being on their 46586576434 Jibbers run ? Those PAYING CUSTOMERS ?

Or, maybe, those PAYING CUSTOMERS, who cried outloud they won't buy MD because they are waiting for level 40 level cup with the level 40 loot and don't need anything in between ? But somehow they were the first ones who bought MD and began to cry they can't get loot they previously stated they don't need ? Those PAYING CUSTOMERS ?

And some people still wonders why the devs "don't listen"...

And you get it!
Check the product's description, SSG sells you X dungeons + Y raids + Z cosmetics. They don't sell you loot ! You didn't pay for those items.
We don't need more quests. It's nice. But do you need more level 8 and 9 quests? Do you need more Legendary quests? I don't. I have more than enough content. And most of the new content isn't all that interesting or novel. So in fact the real attraction of a new expansion is indeed the loot.

SSG, please put a chest at the entrance to the first quest with ALL the named loot in it. Please make it BTA and let all the players just get the loot without working for it. Also, if you please, make a lever just inside the entrance to each quest that will teleport the player to the end and a chest with end rewards and favor. God forbid we actually play the game. God forbid we work for RARE loot so it's not common. God forbid someone actually has to use common loot found in quests to build their character like so many streamers have proven you can do. Please make the game 100% easier so people don't have to work for anything.
Please apply some work ethics to real life. While virtue diddling about 'earnin lootz' you can't be getting much done.

The concept of working or earning anything in a video game is totally absurd to me.

I don't like the rare loot concept. I can take or leave this game though, as I've left it many times. I did buy MD for points, and while I enjoyed the quests, loot acquisition was nonsense, moreso than it's ever been. I do like the sun/moon design. I dislike how it is delivered to us.

Don't buy it at all until we get an answer.
IM not buying anything. DIdnt buy Myth Drannor either.
I refuse to give SSG another penny until they fix the banking space issues. They keep creating loot but havent listened to all the suggestions for helping alleviate all the overflow of gear.

What issue, plenty of inventory space and character slots available

all I need is 10 mules and I can keep a tiny fraction of the trophies i've earned over the years. sure finding the trophy I need for the build I've dreamed up might take an hour to find, but it's totally feasible. ;)

We don't need more quests.
We do. The whole game is about running through dungeons and completing the quests ! What should players do if there won't be quests to complete ?
And running through the very same road every life became a little bit boring.

But do you need more level 8 and 9 quests?
YES ! Right now !
Level 8 is a mess scattered all over the place. Necro, House J, House K, Slave lords, Threnal, Sorrowdusk...
If I can throw all that away and just do X quests from the new pack and be done with the level 8 it's a win.

Do you need more Legendary quests?
I personally don't. I don't play past level 30 and would prefer something in between levels 20-29.

I have more than enough content.
And I don't. 😝

So in fact the real attraction of a new expansion is indeed the loot.
I don't care about the loot. SSG can release dungeons without any single chest in them, totally OK with me.

Varr is kind of right. might be better served buying the cheap version for your main and alts and then you have a higher chance of getting drops and just passing them as needed.

There are many points being tossed around but to yours...............time is money and your time has a value. Either run more quests for the chance to get your item or pay to reroll. I don't like paying to reroll, so don't. The core issue is you don't believe you have a reasonable chance, and I do believe the chance is reasonable.

For me and my experience, I drained MD of everything I wanted in 3 months. This is the first of these threads I've really sunk my teeth into, but as the pages add more and more players are chiming in on my side of the fence. No longer feeling like a minority of one, but still believe I'm in the forum minority.

There is a much larger percentage of active players that are triple completionist everything that are stuck either looping raids or farming new content than I think many understand. Make the new content loot to easy to acquire and it raids only. The new content is more for them (us) than the standard player. Standard players have the whole rest of the game for free to play getting life #16 or a good level 20 gear set.
Well, I am also "stuck" with my main as triple completionist, and while it's true that making things to easy leads to less things to do, making it too hard means the same thing.

Not for long! $40 and a bit of wandering and you have months of fun ahead!

+1

The second the lot drops on Lam, most of us will go out there and compare to what we already have and make the decision if its really worth the tetris time for +1 here or there.

I get that this is a game, and it should be fun and everybody has their own type of fun. For me, its fine tuning my mains, Squeezing out every drop of DPS/Defense/etc... BUT, if the juice isnt worth the squeeze, like, "this item has +17 vs. my +16", then its negligible to me.

In the end, if the quests are good, hooray! If the loot is the same as MD/Vecna, (just different flavors), then meh, i really dont care. The thing is that will I farm? yes, probably, cause I am a bit of hoarder. Who knows, this gear may be BIS for years to come. I'll collect what I can.

Now, if there is someting like the ring from MD? something actually special that is rare indeed. Well, I'll def farm that.

At the end of the day, rare loot (normal progression loot) isnt the end all be all of DDO. Do I think it stinks? mostly. Is it worth the shards for maybe +1 here or there? Not in my book, but Im the one paying. To each their own!

I am excited to go back to ravenloft. Its really what brought me back to the game years ago, and I havent left since.

cheers!
Nic

They did fix it. Didnt you see the $80 patron coffers that come with 10 extra shared bank spaces?

I am obviously being sarcastic. If that Dev who works on the store is watching, we need bank space and the coffers were a slap in the face. I felt totally insulted by the cost and the amount provided.

I do like that a Dev made a lengthy post claiming the ransack resetters don't mean rare loot is back and aren't just another shameless whale milking cash grab...

... And nobody believes it.
