So Emergencies Only, one of the DDO players reputed to be one of the better players and top tanks on a barbarian with a blood feast and affirmation swap and even blood tribute playing very outdated quests on R10 is proof that Legendary Strength of Arms is overpowered and makes every other manner of defense irrelevant?

Emergencies has been soloing r10s for a long time. He never needed the feats.

Also, his base HP is higher than what most melees will achieve with full LSoA stacks.

Sounds like he'd be a good judge for how much that ability is effecting his playstyle and character then. If it's content and a build that he's familiar with, he likely knows how the ease of it feels with/without the new feats.

To me it seems like the feats do more to help other builds catch up to the top builds than it makes the top builds better, and that should be exactly what the devs set out to do with implementing them.
No, its the opposite of that. The stronger you are the more milage you will get from the feats.

I disagree completely. It scales with melee power, so better builds get more from it. Temp hp spam also scales your innate defenses/avoidance, so better defensive classes (barbarians/monk) get even more benefit from the hp, and more time to reapply it before taking "real" damage.

While it may be is true that it helps lesser builds move up a few more skulls, the gap in overall character power between stronger and weaker builds is growing not shrinking.

If their intention is to close that gap, then they need to actually do the work of buffing weaker/nerfing stronger classes directly.

I'm not saying the SOA doesn't make it easier, but this guy's been smashing R10 solos for years.

While what you say is true, people that already solo R10 are now soloing a bit faster? While they may get more from the feat itself in terms of hp and survivability because it made their existing tools better, the lesser player will likely see a larger bump in the difficulty they can handle. Being able to go from running R1 to say running R4 is likely a bigger deal for them than someone that could solo R10 now completing the quest a little quicker. Those previous R1 folks will be able to aquire reaper XP at a much better rate, further helping them become more powerful. It will also allow the mid reaper player to go up a skull or two as well, also improving their reaper XP.

That can easily be achieved without a win-more setup like this one. Just remove the self healing penalty and players will jump up the skull levels too.

It is weird that you already want the change that fixes the problem you are trying to deny.

What is weird is your continued inability to grasp what we were arguing about. I'll try help you with that. You said everyone will be able to do reaper 3 or 4 skulls higher at a minimum than they could currently. I disagreed with your assessment. It may be true at low reaper to jump 2-3 skulls, but you're not going from soloing R4 to R8 with it. My argument came from that assessment. Everything else you're imaging I meant is on you.

That is not what I said. A poster claimed that this was AT MOST a 2-3 skull increase. I said that number should be 3-4, at least. That does not mean everyone is bumped 3-4 skulls.

Anyways, you agree with my proposed change that fixes every problem I have with the feat, thats good.

Oh wait. I forgot about your post kind of misstating how it functioned. I said something about that as well. Actually that may have been my first comment. I just don't care enough any longer to check. Have a nice day.

What are you talking about? I posted the exact mechanic of the ability on page 1. I was in fact the first poster in the thread to do so.

Well yeah, since you agree with my assessment and suggestion this exchange does seem rather meaningless.

Guys, please agree to disagree and take a break from posting.
Sometimes we get caught up in the moment - I certainly do sometimes - and just keep posting long after we should have stopped.
Remember - there is no winning an argument on the internet :)

The idea that somehing has to be overpowered in the highest difficulty setting to be considered overpowered has already been debunked. Your logic concludes that a feat with "You are immortal and deal infinite damage on R9 and below" is perfectly fine and cannot be imbalanced.
The only thing that's been debunked is your false premise that these feats make melee immortal below r10.

"Oh look! A player that was already soloing r10s is still doing it with these feats! Why, I guess that proves they're op!" Seriously though, according to Shear you'll be invincible on any difficulty below r10, so I'd think you'd be eager to use this opportunity to make me eat my words.

I'll end with a question: how many players that spec ranged because it's the meta are now going to reincarnate into a melee because of these feats? Is anyone in your guild chat saying that they're going to respec because these feats are just that incredible? No? That's what I thought. (Here's the part where you say, "Nuh uh, everybody I know is tr'ing into a "Legendary Strength of Arms"-zilla build.")

throwing this out there. For anybody with very little reaper points and survivabily, this feat will help them catch up...i mean, people have been saying or years that we need a catch up mechanic. This could theoretically be that. example, "Joe the new guy can solo R2...now he can solo R4 at same speed. Joe gets 2x RXP. Joe is happy cause he is "catching up faster"".
