Stars Completionist Tanky Healer

I think the biggest issue that Dom and others have (happy to be corrected).. is that new players to the game come to the forums and look for builds. They will see this build and think it will do one thing for them, then find it may not perform how they are expecting it to.

Initially Dom did ask a question, a genuine question and it got derailed after when others stepped in... i hope this all gets back on track and it;s great to see people trying to contribute in a positive way to this thread.

If your goal is do damage and be a hybrid then I've got no feedback for you as long as you find it fun. If you want to aim for tanky healer, then you can increase the stats that matter for that objective a ton. This from my no past life, no raid gear 1st lifer healer setup:

VS your:
1932hp PRR: 189prr MRR: 167mrr
Positive 756.0 29% 30

There's some gear setups listed on here that'll jump your heals to being much larger and plenty of room to expand that gear even more if you include raid gear and other options I didn't use.
The main goal of the build was originally just to heal and survive getting hit by mobs on R10, and then R10s stopped needing a healer as everyone (in 90% of the pugs at least) was just max DPS and dead to a single hit, that's when I started adding in some spell dps so I wasn't just running along and just casting reincarnate when death timers were off cooldown.

I will re-iterate again (for everyone following this thread) that this was stated to be mostly for ease of me seeing the feats without having the builder open (I just included everything that the builder exported).

Everyone seems to keep missing that fact. I'm happy for feedback and have already started looking at what PraetorPlato suggested and I have to agree with most/all of their suggestions (though getting the prr augment set is a pain. been wanting that for a while now and only have 1 set of bracers I think). But the main reason for posting this was not for people to toss mud at me not perfecting a ddoBuilder built thing.

I have a first life build that's posted a few lines down in the Druid forum that is focused on just healing and defenses that by numbers beat this one handily. I'm not sure at all why this one is showing quite as anemic as it is, as I have done this on live and it was doing far above what it looks like it should here.

This wasn't really meant to be a super serious build thread (though had anyone wanted to take it that direction I would have gone more in-depth, and possibly figured out why some numbers are quite so low other than that I don't turn on any metamagics or reaper in the builder to inflate my numbers like some seem to)

If that was the issue, he (and others) have a horrible way of stating it. As I said and have demonstrated, I'm quite fine with feedback but didn't get much from him or the other initial trolls until they were called out on it, and at that point, I didn't want to hear from them on basic principle.

This is a nice attempt, but you could make some choices that line up better with tanky and healer.

Your stats are low, they’re not even in the territory of average let alone tanky. If you’re interested in building a tanky healer that can kill stuff, look around on the forums, it’s not a new concept. 6k HP, 1100 SP, high 60s crit chance, instakilling, cc’ing all while keeping your melee alive. It’s tough to do it all well, but if that’s what you’re after, there are tried and true builds out there.

Don’t get defensive, if you listen to people like Dom and Sardonic, they’ll be able to help you build a winner. Keep at it, you’ll get there. Congrats on healing the R6.

P.S.: This build is a good example of tanky healer.

I don't see inflating numbers as the issue. Your numbers are actually way higher than stated in the build you posted. It's a breath of fresh air you didn't feel the need to start putting things in that the builder missed.

The fact that the typical cast of characters decided to attack it has nothing to do with what the actual numbers are. Dom, for example didn't even read your entire thread before posting questions that had answers posted in your original post.

Oh man let me in coach !

I don’t really understand the decision if people are soul stones so often to make your heal capacity LESS.

It’s very possible even in r10 pugs to keep everyone up the entire time almost no matter what they are doing. I often have like 1-5 deaths in whole r10 sagas, which are normally vengie circles or wilting.

Keeping people alive will normally maximize your dps more than anything else.

The advantage of playing a (much) tankier version (5-7k hp) would be that you could grab aggro and keep people from getting one shot for questing. Not sure if that's something you're interested in, though you definitely have the past lives to do it without sacrificing much.

sadly, healing people only works when they don't go from 100%+ (temp hp), down to soul stones in a single hit. and my healing capacity isn't less, on live the numbers that I saw were at 1k pos spellpower (last I looked, I'm leveling the build again, thus why I posted it on the forums for easy viewing) because that's where I stopped pushing the spellpower, don't remember the crit multi, but the chance was... 60+%? somewhere around there, I remember feeling that it was low but wasn't sure where to find more as a druid.

I do know that the majority of the issue is that I'm splitting myself a bit, between healing, dps, and surviving getting hit. as a druid. any time I try for more in one area I lose too much in another, that's why I cap out at r6 solo. I'm sure there are better ways to do this, just not as a druid as far as I can see. there are a few gear optimizations I can go for (thanks for that from PraetorPlato). but even when I do a full overhaul of the gear it loses out in one area or another. Its one of the reasons I'm really looking forward to Myth. I think that its going to pull together quite well with hruits, mind and matter, and the rest as sun and moon.

Star I hope you get some valuable feedback.. I have a 17/3 healer and it's def a tanky/healer. I am not overly sure you will accomplish the stats you want if you are wanting to also achieve some DC's (mine definitely has nothing of note lol) tanky healer just be healing and living and can def take some hits.

4pc winter, heart, bracers iirc, bejewelled letter opener, shield of the scorpion (i think?), some LGS and I'm at work so can't remember much else rn for what i have in terms of gear/filis/augs but Jenn would be annoyed if I DIDN'T say Legendary Undying Sapphire aug lol.

I totally get it, healing in reapers is mostly BORING, I hate it lol no one even really needs a heal anymore unless I get lucky and we have a mostly melee party.
I have gotten some, thanks. Sadly healing as a druid main means that I keep seeing all these AWESOME shields and armors (and sets that need those shields and armors) that are METAL!!!! xD
I mostly feel that I'm stuck with the Hruits set for armor/neck/gloves. granted, its still a solid set.

I would def go with something far closer to what my first life healer does, if all I was going for was healing and survival. the 17/3 split IS really good for that.

I have played with that a little bit, but then its hard to run things I want without other people providing the dps. I know that I'm trying for the everything druid, but it does work up to mid reaper.

Being able to post a LFM of "R5+ (more with more people)", and just starting the quests/sagas just feels right to me xD

yeah, but I hate the dino armor augments xD

I might look into it again now that I have the raid cloak and helm though. thanks for reminding me.

While it happens, you shouldn't be "waiting for people to go off death timers, so decided to do something else with the build". You should be healing, so they don't go on death timers.

Again, I heal r10 pugs (I really only pug) all the time, people rarely die. If people are dying, I am skeptical, of much else on a "healer" build.

I can only do things based on my experience. and in my experience, in R10 pugs, when most of the pugs get hit, they go from full hp, to a soulstone.

Long time druid player here. Used to be on Khyber as Omid. I've managed to solo ~80 r10s on druid so far and just hit 50 million reaper XP.

If you're looking at a completed build that's not full out DPS, i'd suggest you change your race to Shifter. I usually run with 6k HP, 220PRR, 190MRR and 110 WIS with near maxed DCs. This is all in magus/draconic and 11 in EA for wings.

Admittedly my positive spell power numbers are low at 600/35/55 (ish), but it's enough to heal anyone who has put some effort into Hamp.

I like the 17/3, but I think there's better scope in a 16/4(f) - similar defensive stats but +1800ish hp, depending on gear & build choices, on a 1st lifer with no EPL.

Either way, it's a good choice for guild and pug raiding.

I don't work for SSG- I pay their bills.
Posting here mostly for ease of reading while leveling. it's a solid defensive build that 'can' solo r6s but is generally a slog. I have saved R10 runs with it before but that's more a touch and go type thing than anything you really want to do with it. as usual, the builder seems to be missing a few DCs and spellpowers from what I end up with on live.

I think your build could be improved in a few areas. If I understand correctly, your goal is a balanced Druid that can heal, deal damage, and survive R10 content?

I've ran a solid Fire Druid build in the past and thought you might find it helpful. I soloed most quests on r8 and even tackled some R10s with it.

I prefer Fire to Ice for better healing synergy, but if you're committed to Ice, check out Omid's build - it's top-notch.

I don't use DDO Builder, so my build outline might be a bit messy.

Shifter is better than Aasimar for overall Wisdom, considering the raging bonus.

Here's a quick breakdown of feats and enhancements:

  • Heroic Feats: Maximize, Quicken, Empower, Enlarge, Heighten, Mental Toughness, Improved Mental Toughness
  • Epic Feats: Wellspring of Power, Intensify, Ruin, Greater Ruin
  • Epic Destiny Feats: Epic Spellpower Fire Force and Positive, Legendary Toughness
  • Enhancements: Focus on season herald (like you're doing), 12 falconry for 5% HP, 18 in racial, and enough in feydark for at least the crit chance. (also 6 points in vistani if possible for +3 prr and deflect arrows)
Epic Destinies: 11 points in EA for the wings, 35 in Draconic, and the rest in Primal. (if you want me to be more specific just lmk)

Gear: My gear might not be ideal, but it worked for me. Considering that you're a triple-comp player in a raiding guild the gear will not be first lifer friendly if you know what I mean.

Replace Cruel Cut with the Bulwark augment set for a 10% HP bonus. I couldn't find it on the gear planner, so I used Cruel Cut as a placeholder.
I haven't optimized the augment slots yet. Please feel free to adjust them as needed, but be sure to include Greater Topaz of Evo and Necro for finger of death.

Filigrees:

  • Minor Artifact: +2 Raid Wisdom, 1 Wisdom Eye of the Beholder, 1 Wisdom Dragon Soul, 1 Wisdom Elemental Avatar
  • Weapon: Eye of the Beholder (Wisdom, Spellpower, MRR), Dragon Soul (Rare Arcane Spell Failure for +4 Spellpower, Wisdom, and +10 Spellpower), 1 Wisdom Elemental Avatar, Raid Soulweaver I/Splendid Cacophony (+2 Con), Raid Grandfather's Shield and the regular one (I think that adds up to 10).
This build offers solid healing, decent damage, and survivability, but it's not meta.

Pros:

  • Very solid healing
  • 3100+ HP in Reaper
  • 250+ PRR (could be higher)
  • Solid DPS (1000+ Fire Spellpower/Light/Alignment) not counting metamagics.
  • Relatively fast with sprint boost and wings
Cons:

  • No evasion
  • Poor targeting on some damaging spells (Fire Storm, Flamestrike)

Considering that you're a triple-comp player in a raiding guild the gear will not be first lifer friendly if you know what I mean.

i also wanted to add to the cons the lack of good crowd control (you will be using greater color spray and earthquake)
