SteelStar Asks: (U69.3) What Effects Are Hard To Find On Quest Loot?

13. Fix the exceptional bonus with insight bonus. If exceptional bonus is going to be insight for some gear remove the exceptional bonuses in gear and replace them with insight correct values to not bring useless bonuses and confusion. ( Example: Helm of the Warblade gives exceptional +5 to seeker and that was replaced years ago with insight so in do not stack. Also insight correct bonus for that items level is +6 not +5). That item is very rare to acquire, a lot of farming to get one, and is undervalue for the level and is useless to get for the effort to get it .
I did put in a bug report when I saw them release Warblade like that, as there is no reason to use that deprecated version unless they forgot exceptional seeker has not been a thing for about a decade. Up until MD they had not made an "exceptional" seeker item in a long long time. I forget exactly when the change happened, probably when they changed all exceptional to no-longer stack with different quantities. (+1 used to stack with +2 and +3)

Just going to say it, I want randomly generated gear to be made viable again.
That ship has sailed. Named drops have more effects, with more stacking types, and which are generally grouped together usefully, and you know what to run to get what you want (regardless of how bad the drop rates are)

Whereas the drop rate for a "good" random gen item is far worse than MD rare loot, magnitudes worse. While in some cases random gen can technically exceed all our shiny named loot, it is just so astronomically unlikely to happen or even come close.

Ghost Touch ....
is it still tooo early

Though I would like to see it drop once per life at least rather than zero

Uh... it never really was. ..mostly because of the random part.

OTOH if you're talking about Greater/Epic/Legendary effects on items, that's another story.

There was a time, so I have heard, that random gear was less bad. Alas I was but a twinkle in DDO's eye and can say no more.

As of U69.3, what effects are you looking for that are hard to find in Quest Loot?

  • Banishing and smitting
  • A 2 red augment slot weapon

Short answer: anything remotely appropiate to the character looting it. Even with the class loot option selected the offerings are invariably useless and are rarely worth selleng as vendor trash

"Class loot" only affects reward lists.

Steel, you have some way of generating random magic items in Wheeloon. Please update it and insert it as something that could happen in whatever circumstances that could be considered motivating for players, an and/or list:
1) endquest reward lists
2) any non-end chest
3) remnant chests

We could get some rare unexpected combination and, if nothing else, sentient food. As part of their updating, add augment slots, including Sun Moon. Unbound, BtCoE.

I will upvote this^ except for BTCoE. I see ZERO POINT in that sort of inventory clutter except for raid loot and I'm only lukewarm on the raid loot. Please forget BTCoE exists for anything other than raid loot and exercise the much more amicable BTAoE variable used on the Ioun Stones such as the Pale Green Ioun Stone : https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Pale_Green_Ioun_Stone.

Furthermore, I would love to see the Wondrous Item (of Wheloon and Stormhorns) item appearance files mixed into random generated items all over the game. There were many unique weapon appearances attached to just the random Wondrous items and getting the one you want (to mirror) can take years.

As to Steelstar's OP question... recently my son was looking for a ring to replace his L25 Ring of Shadows. His character using it was some kind of Lone Ranger/Sniper archetype. Idk.

But it made me think something like:
Exceptional Dexterity Skills
Improved Deception
Enhanced Ghostly
?
With two augment slots for hide/move silently skill augments would fit nicely.

I really don't think Lesser Displacement is that important because there are so very many ways to get Blurry and Lesser Displacement is a pathetic 5% better than blurry. Also full Displacement doesn't seem to be that helpful anymore, lots of mobs hit you almost 100% of the time even with Displacement. Dodge is so much more valuable than Displacement.

Actually yeah let's have that 4th effect be some type of dodge.

here is my suggestion : sundering ooze guard. I know there is another higher lvl item that does something similar aswell.

I had always dreamed of making an " ooze parade " character . I had a herioc greensteel weapon of sundering ooze and had like 10 oozes following me around once . but if i also had stacked more sundering ooze gaurd cleansed greensteels i could have had more . at some point it changed and the oozes really dont follow you , but they used to! in spite of item description . so i might have to accept the death of that dream but its okay
