Stupid question.

Has anyone ever looked into attack speed between Short Bows and Long bows? I know historically a skilled archer can fire faster with a smaller bow vs. a larger bow. Did DDO sneak this into bow users? Asking for a friend about to play Rangers. :) I know they kind of did it with Xbows, but did it cross over to real bows?

You are aware that DDO is a fantasy MMO, not a historic simulator, right? So no, the devs didn't "sneak" anything in. The only reason short bows were included in DDO was class proficiency requirements, which can easily be circumvented.

So unless your friend wants to do less damage with a short bow (1d6 base) than with a long bow (1d8 base), then there's no real use for them other than sentient food.

Unless , of course , it has useful additions to it like Paralysing , vorpal or smiting in which case it can be very useful
