Suggestions for the VIP Loyalty Program Rewards Next Year

After the long-awaited VIP Loyalty Program was implemented, it was evident that there needs to be some improvement in the next set of rewards that are released. I have come up with a suggestion for next year's rewards (months 13 through 24) which I have tweaked slightly based on suggestions/feedback provided to me by friends and guildies.

Month 1: Increasing the permanent VIP buddy bonus by an additional 1% per player for every time this is acquired. (i.e., this would result in a 2% buddy bonus per player in group, and if re-used in the future, it would increase to 3% per player, etc.)
  • Overall encourages VIP subscription as well as is more likely to encourage players to pug/post LFMs.
Month 2: Reduced recovery times in taverns for clickies, action boosts, etc.

Month 3: Cosmetic armour and weapon sets/mount

Month 4: Bypass the require to flag for raids that previously required flagging. Requirement: must have flagged for each respective raid a minimum of ONE time PER VIP ACCOUNT. After that, flagging is no longer required for that account (as long as you remain VIP).
  • Encourages more raids to be run (and easier to fill); there are often times where players want to run certain raids that require flagging and they can't fill groups because people aren't flagged.
Month 5: Additional Storage

Month 6: Free teleport to quests in slayer areas (as long as you remain VIP).
  • Add a NPC to the start of each slayer area that grants the option to port to a quest (similar to what is done in Wheloon, Storm Horns, etc) but remove to astral shard cost associated with it for VIPs.
Month 7: Greater VIP Bag of Many Things

Month 8: Bonus DDO points. 1,000 DDO points in addition to the standard 500 each month

Month 9: Additional Storage

Month 10: VIP Discovery Boost

Month 11: Permanent "bracelet of friends" button/item.

Month 12: Veteran Status that allows players to start at level 4 after a TR rather than level 1 (as long as you remain VIP).
  • Add an option to Jeets' dialogue box that allows players to choose whether they want to run The Grotto, skip Korthos, or start at level 4.

Let's get those likes and upvotes to finally get some solid quality of life perks added to VIP :)

This is the best, most well-thought-out suggestion for the VIP program that I've seen. I love how the benefit gets better the more VIP players play together. I'll pay extra for this. Love your work.

All. All of the above please. Would especially love starting at level 4 after TR. The bracelet would be pretty nice as well. Well written and excellent suggestions.

Month 4 should still be per character instead of per account, it'd still be worth it and "explainable" via memories of that pertaining through TR's.

Month 6 doesnt seem great, potentially annoying to implement (adding npc's to all old areas, new teleports and anchors and whatever) and may have annoying future things where they design around added annoyances for slayer areas because of it. Prefer IoD or Ravenloft solutions where you gotta run once and after that you'll get close enough and keep VIP stuff away from these slayer area things.

Love points 11, 12. Especially the bracelet. Don't think 12 is likely to happen but who knows.

Rest is mostly suitable fluff/valued storage and other stuff that is still beneficial for almost if not all players

Nah. QoL doesn't have to come with a punishment. We all get it—you are reincarnated, you have past lives, yada yada. We don't need to run to every quest on every toon to immerse sufficiently. Once per account is fine. This type of bonus is exactly what's missing. If you're not giving me new shiny stuff, the least you can do is make my experience more enjoyable. Get me to the quest/raid I want to run as soon as possible.

Month 4 and Month 6 do not prohibit players from running to quests/raids instead of teleporting, or still flagging for raids if they choose to. The option is there for those who wish to flower sniff every aspect of the game every single life. On the flip side, the option is also there for those who have played this game long enough and don't want to continuously re-flag for raids after TRs or run to quests every life (or have to pay the shards to teleport there).

I really like all of these ideas for sure. Always want more xp and that last perk there for the 1 year is HUUUUUUGE!!! Would make TRs more enjoyable instead of having to start at level 1 right away. I can't speak for everyone else but I know I dread those first few levels.

DDO is anti-QOL, sorry. Its not a case of them not knowing these are things players want and we just need to bring it to their attention. They do not want to give us things we want. No matter how good and popular these suggestions are, we gotta remember that what the players want is Fiscally Irresponsible.

Not saying I have high hopes for any of the above suggestions to get implemented - my motto with SSG is "lower your expectations". However, its not going to stop me from at least trying to ask for things that would benefit all players and also encourage more VIP subscriptions (making SSG more money). You can't get what you don't ask for.

I get that. I think a lot of players, myself included, are tired of asking for things year after year and those things not being acknowledged or deemed worthy to respond to. It would not be a problem at all if the people at the top responded to threads like these with the why or why not any particular thing couldn't be considered or implemented. The problem is, we can do thread after thread, poll after poll, ccs can make videos, and all of it can be brushed under the rug and ignored and never addressed or acknowledged by the people that matter WHILE at the same time plowing forward with their own unpopular decisions.

What, my giant compilation post is chopped liver?!

While I'd love more QoL features there's a huge disconnect between devs and players. Players (for the most part) want to do quests faster. Whether that's more xp, tr-ing to lv 4, warping to the quest ala RL, not flagging, etc. Devs seem to think that anything that lets us level faster is us "not wanting to play the game" and bad. When really we want to play the game! But the tr grind is gigantic, and anything that speeds that up is good. If reincarnating were better, people would be able to play alts and reincarnate them. It's not like when anyone hits triple racial completionist they pack up their stuff and go home, never playing again.

That said, my friends and I (all 4 of us un-subbed this year) would've gladly kept vip-ing if there was more XP. Loot drops....well the 1% just seemed so trivial to the point of how would we even know it was on? The rest of the 12-month plan seems unnecessary too. Like I've said many times, the vast majority of people I saw vip-ing were just....vip-ing for years, basically while they played. There was no need for this convoluted system to force people to do something they were already going to do.

Maybe, but I’m not posting to complain about what you think the devs think. I’m posting to support what I would pay money for, found in the OP.

There is a huge disconnect, and it comes from a place of them not playing or understanding their own game and the things they have created. They need to realize that QoL is what will attract more players to VIP and to keep playing the game in general. For example, I know plenty of people who have taken breaks after TRing back to level 1 because the levelling process from 1 to ~5 is painful. I know people who will avoid running certain quests cause it takes longer to get to. Some of these QoL things would address those issues, plus add other benefits, and encourage more gameplay on top of the additional benefits they offer, it just requires the devs to think outside of their bubble for once.

This is a great list Dom!

Here's a few other ideas I wouldn't mind seeing as 6 or 12-month milestone rewards and which require you to maintain VIP to continue to benefit from:

  • Golden Thieves Tools items (+10 bonus, unlimited uses)
  • Golden Bag of Spell Mats (same as universal dust/stone, unlimited uses)
  • Golden Universal Tool Kit (tool kit which works for augments, filigrees, bonepicker, LGS- unlimited uses)

1 unbind token (or Wish of Inheritance) quarter, or in VIP BOMT, allowing for one character bound item to become BTA. Alternatively, while VIP Raid items are BTA.

I have must be 100 raid or BTC items that I can’t use but would be able to on my other alts, which would make me play them more. That would additionally get me motivated to buy Ottos to build them up faster. Without the gear I’ve already grinded for 10 years able to be passed, I have very little reason to make them a true alt main character.
