Taking the Dodge feat

I have 23 DEX but Dodge is not available. My DEX has base 8 with +3 from tomes and the rest comes from gear etc. My level is currently 6.

I know that Dodge requires DEX 13 and I seem to meet that but the feat is not available for me to take.

What am I missing?

Gear doesn't count. Has to be the base stat, I believe. Tomes and level ups

you have only 11 Dex but Dodge requires 13, so that feat is not available.

The dex from gear doesn't count.

Solution: get a +5 dex tome; it will then work for your progression.

I normally start with 11 because you’ll have 13 from tomes and can pile a bunch of feats on at 2,3,4 and get wwa or spring attack immediately. (Fighter or monk builds / splashes)

Worth noting that Tomes dont apply during actual character creation, they apply immediately after your character is created

So if you start with 11 DEX with a +2 Tome, you cant take Dodge as your L1 creation feat. You can, however, take Toughness, complete creation, then immediately go swap it to Dodge at Fred.

Yup great points . I do normally just take the line starting at 2 but definitely can do that as well .
