Targeting Issue

So i have an odd problem, I cannot target players who are not in my group its been that way for years now. I can hover the mouse over and target them but as soon as I try to heal/examine/buff, etc it drops the targeting.

If a player is in my party I still have the same problem until I use the party interface to target them. So on a bard or healer I cant just target a party member via the pointer. I have to click their name in the party interface then its fine.

Another example is LHOX, can target the puppies fine until they are charmed. Once charmed I cant target them, I can do mass buffs like haste as long as I target the tank if he is close enough to the puppies. Kinda of a pita to buff puppies you cant target on a bard lol.

I've tried changing options and haven't had any luck unless i'm just missing hitting the correct combination of changes to fix it.

I recently experienced the same thing after upgrading to a five button mouse. I of course blamed the mouse. Then I realized I was not on the right mouse option to right click to select. There are three or four setting which act slightly differently and though I would swear in court I had the right one, I obviously didn't. After changing I can now right click and select just like normal. Check out the mouse settings.

Got it fixed, Keymapping, Interaction Keys, MMO Interact/Orbit. There are some other keys there as well that I may need to fine tune as I fixed my initial problem but who know what other problems my fix might create lol. Thanks

Ok so not quite fixed but better. Fixed 1 thing broke 2 others. I reset it to Classic and that seems to have got it close enough to what I want for now. I believe I had tried swapping it before but after awhile all things I swapped trying to fix it just caused me to remember none of it.

Look into Mouse Soft Targeting, sounds like what you are looking for.

I don't remember what I settled on that finally worked but I will swear it was not there before. I have mentioned several times over the years they better never all on me to be an eye witness. Glad you got it sorted.
