Teleport Change is a HUGE kick in the teeth.

I don’t like this change and they are deprecating the value of the very expensive teleport clickie for ultimate expansions.
The expansion clickies are not modified if I understood well.
Only the spells teleport, greater teleport are modified to behave like the clickies.

I personally, believe that the best solution is something in the middle.

Teleport, greater teleport, recall used by scrolls, clickies should behave the same with the expanded teleport clickies and have some casting time. The same for the golden key and d12.
All should get standardized with the same casting time, cool down, interrupt mechanism.
It is clear for DDO that all these have no combat intention and are for QoL. Adding a normal casting time, cool down mechanism reduces abuse and might possibly reduce lag.

But memorized spells or SLAs should allow quicken to reduce the casting time and prevent interrupt. While not the direct intention of these spells, creative use of the spell by players should not be prohibited. If indeed the intention of the devs is to stop the use of these spells in dungeons, then just do not allow the casting of these spells in dungeons. (Keep them only for wilderness and public areas).

As I mentioned earlier, personally I would restrict teleport within the same plane of existence and wouldn't allowed it to change planes.

For combat use, DD exists and I'm sure that if they wanted to make money from DD they could simply put a DD clickie at next ultimate version of an expansion.

Cheers

This change is ass. No other way to rationalize it. HC can and should die in a fire.
Having seen people try and escape a burning building in my previous life I don't like when people use that term but I will agree with the first sentence. I would have love to been at the white board when this was proposed as would have most players.

Why? Of all things, why this?

I've got a proposition: If you're 'standardizing' teleport, then also add new locations to it. There's no reason why you can only teleport to random places from really old expansion packs with greater teleport. Add in the new ones too. I'll eat an increased cast time if it means teleport can actually teleport you to places such as sharn / ravenloft.

Teleport was a standard action, and quicken spell could be applied normally to make it a swift action which is almost uninterpretable.
Exceptions: counter spell (not available at DDO), ready action (not available in DDO), continuous damage (available) but caster was entitled a rather easy concentration check to cast the spell.

So the change is certainly not a more to pnp change.

I see a lot of random guess for the reason behind the change, but I would argue that we simply do not know the reason.

Cheers
It reduces lag, like dungeon alert 😂🤣😂

Obviously. Deaths are money in hardcore so we can't have anyone hitting the "oh sh.." button. The one saving grace is that you'll be able to abort an accidental teleport, I guess.
I foresee Clerics becoming increasing popular in Hardcore.

Word of Recall is amazing when you need it.

Where I agree, the casting of teleport should be equivalent to a standard action, so should be relatively fast.

Teleport being used to "cheese" making a poor choice and escaping it - Hardcore for example, might not be good for the game for these types of events. Keep in mind there are also times when the situation is not a player's choice but possibly a game performance issue or choices made by other players.

Other possible options - Change the rules of Quicken to match Pen & Paper - cast faster but not immune to interruption. This would mean concentration becomes more important. The downside is concentration becomes more important and the trade-off of quicken vs concentration disappears. Meaning quicken is only useful in long cast time spells.
Quicken in pnp prevents attacks of opportunity.

Change the spells for hardcore would be incredibly dumb. Let the hardcore rules stay inside hardcore and not in all the game.

One more thing they *most likely* can not do anything about. EVERYTHING (and I do mean everything) included in expansions was implied or straight out mentioned to be agreed with Hasbro. It's the entire reason why they can't sell expansion hirelings despite some people willing to pay.

Adding old expansions locations would still need Hasbro's permission as they would technically make items included in the most expensive expansions tier effectively obsolete. I really don't think that is ever going to happen in any way, shape or form.

Teleport has been nerfed and things are not going to get better.

Welcome to the suck.

Man, I hadn't even considered the hardcore escape thing - that's quite clever really. But yeah this sucks otherwise. It totally changes the utility of teleport in a game where quick travel is already slightly painful. Shouldn't we be making it easier for players to get to places/other players rather than harder?

No offense, but who cares about PnP in DDO. DDO is its own thing, screw PnP and their rules.

Sure, changing teleport spells to a long induction is a good change /s

Who wants those stupid changes? 99% of players don't.

And I reiterate what I said: the rules and conditions of hardcore should remain confined to hardcore. Period. Changing the entire game for hardcore is idiotic.

Yeah, I'm gonna say again that I find it very hard to believe that Hasbro/Wizards has as much authority over DDO as you claim. I mean, it's hard to imagine that they're doing anything beyond just ensuring content fits the lore and doesn't infringe on agreements with other parties. Tell me, if SSG can't change anything because they have to run everything past daddy Hasbro, then how did these teleport changes happen? By your logic Hasbro must be involved in this too.
