Maybe a bit of a silly question. I see that this is a level 10 raid. My friend and I are both level 14. Can we do this in a duo? How hard is it to find groups for it? How hard is the raid in general? Is it worth the time and energy, or should we just skip it and keep leveling?

It's a fun enough raid. I solo it on r1 pretty much ever TR with a level 12 character. How well the 2 of you can handle it on any given difficulty will depend on your builds, gear, play skills, etc. But somewhere between normal to reaper, you should be able to find a difficulty you can handle and find enjoyable for the two of you to duo it.

It is one of the easier raids, HOWEVER, there are many paths, and no functional map. The map only shows the outside parts, but the inside parts are where most of the raid happens and those have no maps. You could easily spend 2 hours in there exploring and/or getting lost. However however, the more optional paths you do, the easier the end fight becomes. (only the fire+ice part is required). It does have a mandatory stat check though. It's not high, but it does exist. In the heroic version, you need an Int of 20 and a Str of 20. The legendary version is much higher and varies by difficulty... but the heroic one is 20 for both Int an Str (does not have the be on the same character) is required.

edit: misremembered a thing, both stats are required unless I'm misremembering another thing. I'll probably go in and double check the paths at some point. Also, some areas are also behind locked doors.

Biggest hurdle is no hirelings, if you guys are used to using cleric or fv for heals. So make sure to stock up on pots/scrolls if one of you aren't a healer.

Make sure to watch a video of it done. The visual aspect really helps to not get lost. A text guide is always rough in a maze.

Also the endboss can be a real jerk in knocking you of the platform. Pay good attention on that part.

Goodluck =)

It's an old raid. You should be able to solo it. Well, unless you are on completely new gearless characters.

...and the part no one answered yet... heroic level raids are often difficult to find groups for. Most vets tend to speed through heroics for the past lives, so the extra time and challenge of a heroic raid is often not worth it. Though some, like Rabid and Myself and I'm sure others, will do some raids like Tempest Spine solo, and maybe have an LFM up for it for anyone who wants to come in for the completion. As you're new to it, you probably want to explore and experience what it has to offer? Tempest Spine does not have any flagging requirements, and does not have a lockout point (many raids have lockout points, where once a point is passed, no latecomers can join and/or be able to loot the end chests), so a few people probably will join if you put up an LFM, but my experience with heroic level raiding is full groups are very rare unless it's a pre-planned event with a guild (or during a hardcore event when everyone is looking for a completion with a full group).

I have written a guide with screenshots of the fast method done solo (currently it's only on my discord, but I can send here it via DMs if you wanted), and I have also done in person guided tours for the entire area/all side paths as well. I do have a character in range on Shadowdale.

Tomorrow we can run it together. I used to know if very well, soloing it. But I had a long break and don't remember it that well. I'm also 14 so let's run it and get some loot.

Did you give it a go? if so, how did it go? *genuinely curious*

I run this along with von raid most heroic lives. You certainly could duo it if you know the quest mechanics well. Also if you get blown off the top don't hit any movement and immediately type /stuck in the air you will teleport back up top usually before if not just after u hit the ground. (if you type it right away)

Realized there was an INT requirement, and that I couldn't use a hireling to bypass it. This plane never left the ground.
At lvl 14 not too many pple would join an lfm for lvl 10 content, but there is good news, it's also epic (lvl 32) run it then.

Tempest Spine is an old school raid where it encouraged(required) a diverse party.. easier to bypass these restrictions in current game but definitely challenging for those that have not already run this hundreds of times....

Traps, and other roadblocks like
Rune (mandatory: requires an INT check of 18 on Elite)
Levers (mandatory: require a STR check of 20 on Elite).
Getting tossed off the mountain top and having to work your way back up to the HP regenning Giant.

XP is great, comparable to Vault of Night parts 5/6 but doesn't need flagging Von 1-4 to get in...

Doing some research on it in your spare time would be useful..
Probably best to join a group if you see one up, if not skip it and catch a group on another life.

Tempest's Spine is pretty cool. In two ways. You can choo-choo it with shortcut and get great xp while levelling, or you can do it the old school way and see a pretty cool raid with all its little fun places to explore.

Though sadly, the first part is all anyone (including me) does these days, because xp is king, and... well, because we can. Why bother with mechanics when we can just power through them heh.

I haven't run the raid like in the old days for many years, nor seen anyone else do it. Baddan.

you should be able to hit 20 of a stat at level 14, if you bring appropriate items.
randomgen/named/crafted items should have about 7 enhancement, 3 insightful
On named you can also find quality +1, profane +1 (+2 on Chrono set), artifact +1.
Monster Hunter sells +2 stat potions for 250 mysterious remnants.
Some NPCs sell up to +3 stat potions for certain collectible items (Yagda Yarrowmill at house D sells int)
(you might find those collectibles at AH or level 16 quests (16 normal or 15 hard or 14 elite))
guild ship buff gives +2 to stats, you might ask people for a ship invite if you don't have your own.

Tempest Spine is an XP quest for me to solo each life.

You need someone with high strength, someone with high int, and a way to pick a couple of locks. Normal quests never have pick-only locked doors on the critical path, but raids ignore that restriction. A couple of bells of opening would work fine if you don't have melt lock or knock or lockpicking. Bells are obtained in fairly decent quantities from daily silver rolls. Not common by any means, but they do show up. Definitely don't buy one from the store.

Unfortunately no hirelings in a raid, so bear that in mind.
