the issue is, people dont wait for the group to fill before starting the quest

During leveling it is a waste of time to wait for the party to fill, so people just start at a difficulty they can solo.

Only at endgame if you want to do higher reaper it is worth it to wait for party members before starting.

yes whats the issue?

Unless running vhigh reaper i either:

a. Start on a diffuculty i can solo and up the reaper as more join. Eg if i put R3+ IP it means i am in progress at R3. As more join the reaper will go up to a level we comfortable but tbh thats just wasted time with a dicussion on whats best. I normally would just go R4 IP as i can solo R4 but with a group its a speed run

or

b. I put a higher difficulty that i cannot solo (or am on a healer/ tank with no DPS) and post something like "R8 (where is ma DPS!), starting with 4 in grp". Or if i get 2 crazy high DPS i would start with 2 and then update the LFM to "R8 IP" or whatver

- This is a necessary player behavior that developed as a result of low popupation numbers and how solo-centric the game's become.
- The LFMs actually show whether and how long the group is in progress on a certain quest, so you can make an informed decision whether to join

There's no point in waiting around for the group to fill 99% of the time. Nobody will wait 15 minutes for people to join to run a 15-minute quest.

I don't usually wait unless someone tells me they're lost and needs help.

I understand the frustration of new/casual players who have trouble finding the quest, but I hope they tell me so I can help them before I enter the quest.

You can call me impatient if you want. But my time to play is limited, and waiting isn't fun.

I guess impatience is rampant right now....

I am curious. Why not just post your own group and do it the way you like?

"R1 SomeQuestChain - start when he group is full".

That way you make the rules and can run with others that like doing it that way. If you dont like the way others run their groups making your own is the only real solution.

Because even if they are willing to wait for the group to fill, there's still a decent chance they will run it the way they want when you all get in. Posting what you want on an LFM is a good idea but many people don't abide by those constraints.

While there is some truth to that - that does not warrent a "because" imho.

My suggestion to make a group and post the way you want is still the best chance you have. Then kick those that deliberately do not follow those rules when you have the chance.

Demanding that other group leaders play the way you want is not reasonable though.

Agreed, creating your own LFM is the best option. I was just warning people to not expect it to always work out they way they want.

there is a change in mindset from the game back in 2006 to now. there is no perfect make up of a party. The goal in most pugs is to get in as much content as possible for the time the user can be logged in.

I find if you want to do the "lets gather, then quest" you will more likely find that in grouping such as guilds.

Now, I will say any pug group that makes it impossible to catch up such as running on "Red alert", locking routes or bottlenecking mobs, those are the ones that give me pause. But there I just find another group.

I specifically hesitate to join parties that havent started yet. I dont know what they are planning or what difficulty they can handle.

If i see a few people doing r6 and 5 mins in i know at least someone felt confident they could finish it.

I'm not waiting 10 minutes to fill when the quest is less than 10 minutes long. Catch up or make your own group.
Same. I've finished multiple quests before while watching a LFM like this, and that's just not worth it to me.

The closest I get to "fill before starting" is for raids, and even there I'm pretty fine with shortmanning once the necessary roles are filled.

This also contributes to that late penalty which is such an out dated mechanic. Back in the day level cap was 10 and there were too few quests, level penalty was there. Now a days not many will join a group if they see 5-10 minutes into the quest on the LFM. :(

Helping party members is different from waiting to fill, which is the topic. That said, it is zero fun for weaker players who get left for dead or cannot keep up. When you have the star, you must consider everyone in the party, unless you put zerg on your lfm. Warn players of your intent. That comment is not for you personally, but meant for everyone.
