The monk changes are nice, but if you want to shift the meta . . .

If *let me get on my first life inq with an ML20 random gen crossbow because we don't have enough dps* is a perfectly valid statement to make when swapping off my triple comp caster toon with 3 capped sentient gems and idk how many years investment, then yeah, it should probably get nerfed.

(In legendary r10s btw)
Legit great players are making low-life crossbows alts that out-perform their triple-completionists on other styles. By a significant margin.

Broken as heck.

The meta needs an enima, and the refuse that needs to be flushed from DDO's collective colon are crossbows.

And this is where even so-called surgical nerfs are still a problem. Even if they nerf one specific thing that is overperforming, I bet it is only overperforming when the upper 10% of players are doing it. The bottom 90% of players don't need that ability nerfed at all because it isn't too strong when they do it. A surgical nerf only works when it has no impact on weaker players even if they are playing the exact same class and using the exact same abilities as the overperformers.
A good surgical nerf might only make two things no longer compatible with each other, if they're over synergizing each other. That won't affect anyone using them separately, without creating cheese. If you properly identify whats specifically letting builds over perform, you can regulate just those unexpected features

Almost always, the issue isn't one specific thing, it's an unforeseen way to leverage multiple things at the same time

Ah yes, yes, I understand now. If I expect to contribute nothing, then I will attain happiness when the inquisitives complete the quest for me.

Thank you for your lesson on the wise art of getting carried.
Yeah. Was away from the game for a month or so. Now, it's inquis or pike.

Anyone have a inquis build they want to share?

Why do I have 522 ddo build files
So I have run a gnome light repeater pure arti build a few times in the past couple of months. I don't get outrageous numbers at end game. It's an int build and uses endless fusillade. What the heck am I doing wrong? Where is all this out of balance coming from that people talk about? Basically, what did I do wrong to make mine so sub-optimal?
RXB's used to have 1/3rd doubleshot. Now they get full doubleshot. Expanded clip was changed to grant +33% Doubleshot instead of a 4th shot. Attack rate was also slowed somewhat, in theory to balance this but in practice not quite.

Specifically though, this turned out to be a huge buff for active attacks, and a general buff for normal attacks; at the cost of feeling clunkier for most people. DPS is up, QoL is down. Patience (+1 crit multi for -10% Attack Speed) is also more +DPS for low cost on many/most Repeater builds AFAIK (since many are overcapped on AS, it reduces your actual shots/minute by less than 10%).

Are you using Fatesinger strike? If not, have you tried? It's by far the easiest way to get solid endgame numbers that I'm aware of, on ranged builds. Shiradi T5 + mantle (use Stay Loud), Fatesinger for strike (get T1 sonic vuln and T3 double-sonic-damage), and whatever 3rd tree your build needs (SD is common for SA dice and Evasion, but Machro or others can be more relevant to you).

Otherwise, proc effects like Dripping with Magma (available most easily via Demon Engine runearm, but there are other ways) plus like Bound Elemental Ring of Acid - these all add up fast. On top of the usual Doubleshot, Ranged Power, Int, Deadly, Seeker, Deception, etc.

This is probably one of the legit things you can point out, since AFAIK you can overcap attack speed easily on DXB and still be at animation cap even with the -10% penalty
It also more heavily loads active attacks with crit bonuses, particularly Pluck of a String which has +4 threat range.

When Patience is just +1 Multi it's an incredible feat; when there's drawbacks then ya need math, but when it's free it's very good.

uhm.. I still think melee holds the Grim Q´s speed records. (used this as an example since its so widely run and documented) They still destroy r10 content in questing, very little downtime, and can recuperate on the fly -- also a bit better in low r challenges since a high amount of hp + continuous healing makes em very sturdy. That said, I still think melee should be buffed.

RXB is fully on par with Inq -- I assume they fixed the crossover bug -- if not they should... and pre monk changes throwers was on par too.
I guess bows needs a touch up.

101- build.
15arti-4rog-1barb -- preferably WF or Aas or Drow but anything works - int/con
41 inq, 8 rog, 27 arti, rest whatever.
Take all the obvious feats.
SD, Shiradi, FS

One of the best players in the game holds that record on a melee.

Any scrub can will be more useful in more situations being an inquisitive.

It is broken.

I think its good to have some low hanging easy fruit alternative. And people will still fail to pick it or hit the basket if they picked it :p
(rxb is just as good or "broken" btw .. and probably throwers)

but as I said in this thread, yes, I would totally support a buff to melee and casters. I would also support a straight -20% dmg nerf to all ranged, esp x-bow users if they would remove that silly wind up mechanic that is annoying and also elitist and anti-new-pro-players-I-run-this-q-100times-and knows-every-spawn..

Does this problem apply to Great Crossbow builds as well? I thought they were well behind inq / repeater builds.

Now all we need is the Rogue tweak and new archetype that can assassinate at range. Guess what. Brrrrrrr

Inquis has double the doubleshot it's supposed to have. Repeaters have triple the doubleshot they're supposed to have.
They have 100% now as they should

There speed has been nerfed into oblivion while AOE is all they are left with

Inquisitive was once nerfed, then it was brought back due to the crossbow/artificer changes. It's more absurd than it was before. I can clear R10 sagas solo because the firepower is incredible.
You can clear r10 solo because of how your feats and gear stack at cap. Players and SSG forget there is more than just “end game.”

The beginning, mid game on X-bow are not nearly as powerful. Which means they need to look at a small section of the game. But who are we kidding, SSG will take a nuclear bomb to solve the problem.
