The new dragon disciple question.

It's the nature of man to ask questions.-Belgarath
Hi all.

Been a while since i played but I'm back again.

I've just started playing the new dragon disciple and I have a small question.

On the description of the DD's SLA's it says that enemies can make a saving throw and if they make it they only take half damage. What I have noticed though is that some enemies (mostly archers and rouges) can avoid damage completely.

Nowhere in the description does it say that this is a possibility which makes me wonder if this is wai.

It also makes me wonder if a regular monk with like cleave abilities and whirlwind strike wouldn't technically be "better" since those strikes would still hit if I'm not misstaken.

Let me know if you know.

Best regards.

I believe those Mobs have improved evasion, so if they make the save, they will avoid all damage. Similar to spells that work the same way, IE chain lighting/fireball etc.

Yeah that was my thought too but shouldn't the text then say that the damage can be avoided completly if they have evasion or something?

Also what good are a spells if they can be avoided? I was totally fine with half damage on saved by to avoid it completly seems like something we players should have but not the monsters.......or not even we players tbh just a save to get less damage.

Well it is as it is I suppose. So far I havn't come across any champion or boss enemy that have avoided my damage that way so for trash mobs it's not a big deal, they go down pretty fast anyway since at least on this char I have melee fighting too.

If it's a REF save, then no. Evasion works like that.
Yeah i think i recall this is the same for like fireball and such spells too. It's too bad because imo it takes a bit of the fun out of it that mobs can avoid my damage completly (I'm fine with a save for half damage). But then I can do this too if I have evasion so in a sence it's only fair and it's only some enemies and not all of them.

Yes, I basically avoid playing all classes that get hurt by evasion like this. I can accept a save for half damage, but not a save for no effect at all, so I generally only play with things that have no save or a saving throw that isn't reflex. Alchemist was fun until I got to content where every archer was making so many saving throws that even multivial (4 attacks) would hit for little to no damage as they made their save 3 or 4 times.
