One of the most frequent pieces of feedback when I initially set up the Discord (I gave it three rounds of feedback prior to going live here) was that there were just too many channels, so I ended up cutting it down by about a third before going live and setting up the class and server channels to be opt-in by selecting the ones you want to see and post into by reacting to a post. Reacting to the post gives you a role that lets you see and interact in the specific class and server forums, and it's how the member list on the right can list players by server.
So, I can appreciate someone finding it annoying, but I also like how it allows people from Sarlona as an example to opt into their community, and I like how it allows for the server list. For classes, it keeps the channel spam down and isn't particularly visible, so you can just opt into everything if you want.

This Discord thing is going to be a massive can of worms, Cord. And a ton of extra work for you. Why?

Everyone said they won't give their phone numbers were the first ones who joined Discord.
Same as they are first to cry they won't buy any expansions only to be first who actually bought them and first who started new threads about how bad those expansions are. ?

I don't even HAVE a phone number to give.
I should have mod privileges on a few servers that simply required two-factor authentication, so I remain in limbo there too, so this isn't the first time Discord does a thing to me. It'd be the first time I get limited access though.

As a heads up, reacting appears to require the ability to make posts.
So for those of us who can't/won't register our phone# with Discord, we also can't use that reaction bot. So we can't even see the channels we'd like to in "read-only" mode.
Just an FYI.

I considered hosting raids here instead of the current discord we are using but I can't see any way a raid leader can moderate - for example if we get someone in channel causing problems there is no way to immediately boot them - not that this a common issue but on rare occassion it could happen.

There's an entire team of mods across time zones; I would generally assume there will be someone around almost any time.

I can appreciate that there's no way to make everyone happy and you're doing the best you can with what you have. I think I might be a bit grumpy lately because work has been in crunch all week and we have another month of it left before our own game launch. I might have to just take a break from these forums until the burnout is gone.

So I had the same problem. My phone number was associated with a different discord account I was no longer using and I didn't even know the original credentials. Here's how to proceed:
You can attempt to access that account by following these steps below:
- Open an incognito browser window
- Enter your phone number instead of an email address at the login screen
- Click 'Forgot Password'
- Follow the link in the SMS sent to you to reset the password
- Log into your account
- Click on the cog icon to go to User Settings > My Account
- Add an email address that is not associated with any Discord account and then verify it
- Click on 'Remove Phone Number'
- At this point you can also click on 'Delete Account' if you wish to remove this account
Originally I had a problem with the step in bold: I am an old fart with a single email address, I don't have any spare. Last time I created an email was when gmail was invitation-only. Fortunately my teenage daughter had zillion ready.

Will hot-links to a DDO Discord channel be supported in-game, or are players stuck having to copy-n-paste everything?

Copy and paste is how it'll be done for those who want to do it. Maybe someday we could integrate the Discord API (and Twitch and others), but it's not a part of this particular Discord launch project.
