for goldens? no. goldens are fixed.

for other kinds... technically its possible in theory... but you'll be waiting a long time with no guarantee that it'll be higher level.

No, only 1 spawns per quest. If you leave it, you'll waiting for the next quest.

When I did the lanterns in Cormyr, they had maximum XP thresholds based on your level, so you needed to level up by 10, 15, 20, or 25 (for example) to progress further. If the XP thresholds for the lutes are very low, then it's not worth getting the golden motes on Heroics.

The threshold numbers I was getting for the 2000 and 1500 Lutes were proving to match closely enough to the Lanterns of the same durability so we just copied those over. The Novice Lute did not have a durability threshold. I will be looking at the 1250 Lutes tonight / this weekend.

The Golden Mote is a dialogue interaction that each player can use. I have not tested the level restriction for entering the area, but I would presume a level 7 character can enter the heroic Novice mote area even if a level 34 is in the party, though that level 34 would not be able to enter that sub-area.

Any insight on the purple motes? I saw this in another thread and it made me wonder if a purple spawns out of a blue or if they are separate. Do they start ~level 10?

Claim the Mote: Once the enemies are defeated, play your Lute again near the Mote to claim its power and get a purple mote.

I have a level 20 character with 1773 durability in the Winter Flight Lute. If the lute takes now the Golden Mote of Oghma, will that cap it? Or does the Lute only gain xp until 1899 XP (not going beyond the level 20 cap)?

Does anyone know the base XP of the Golden Mote, without any tomes, potions, or anything else?

It can push it all the way up in one go letting you skip the need to level to 25.

but if you do that, you are still less than level 25 in that quest and that golden mote area. a bit dangerous for a winter toon
