The augments for festive 2 dex and charisma are kinda nice. It is also nice to have some icy potions of children shield for Threats Old and New. I feel the variety is worth it, but it would be nice for the items to automatically drop into my inventory.

Well, that might be the only option left. Dwarves and heavy and cumbersome, now that we have "Throw the boom" and "no one tosses a dwarf", dwarves are out as shields. Gnomes are too cantankerous, so we are left with children. Why do you think. there are no kids running around the Stormreach market? Children have been proven to be uncessasay. With reincarnations, rez scrolls, and rex shrines, adventurers do not need to be replaced by growing children proving them expendable as shields.
