The Ultimate Inquisitive Past Life Getter

Updated the first post with an overhaul of the feat lists. I have put these in to tables now since I wanted to show what feats to take when you don't have access to full Base Attack Bonus. This should hopefully be a lot clearer on what to take and when. I also added a table for Racial life feats so as everything matches otherwise my OCD can't cope :)

Maybe a bit late to the party, but I'm confused, there's only one level of artificer, but the gearlist includes a rune arm, which is granted at artificer 2?

It depends on which variant you are doing. The Racial Life build allows the use of Rune Arms but the others do not (with an exception or two). It was included in the gear list so it is as complete as possible.

With the new feats released, what are people's thoughts on swapping out a feat for Trick Shots? Was thinking it might be a better than Doubleshot since inquisitive gets 50% of that benefit anyways.

Lose 5% doubleshot but gain 40 ranged power for 4 seconds on each tumble, even with only 1 trained point in tumble you can have 2-3 charges which should last through most fights.

40 Ranged Power for 4 seconds seems pointless to me but I hate short duration buffs like that so YMMV.

For the build in the first post I will probably pick Eerie Aim for level 33 and either Guarded Actions or Titan's Blood for level 34.

Been testing out Trick Shot this life while farming a Legendary set for reaper farming to end each life, and it’s so so at best.

Currently wearing my 20 set (plus a Dino heavy crossbow with only 2 filigrees) and have managed 52k crit in elite and 41k in R1 but the tumble definitely cuts out a few shots that are probably more overall damage. Have to be careful with tumble and No Holds Barred as well. It seems to cancel the effect if done during the animation unlike how you can tumble during a bard song to cast again immediately and keep the buff.

Updated the augments for the level 20 gear set. Sort of running out of things to slot lol but it's better than nothing.

EDIT - Swapped things round a little to make it easier and to use up other slots.

hey thought you would appreciate some lootgen crossbows I am using on my inquisitor. They are not as good as the Ratcatcher but I failed to pull one in the Threnal end reward list (running a second time, ugh):

hey Stoner what is your take on the xbow changes? I respect your experience on this one.

I have an inquisitor that is parked at level 21 with an epic storm etc—am wondering if it is worth it to push the extra imbues up to 14 for the shirardi damage (“every 7 bonus imbue dice”) Is it worth it? It would mean using more filigrees for imbues (like reverb) over range power. I have Long Shadow 3piece right now (amongst others) and could add reverb for two more, maybe snowpeaks one (seems silly) and some other source (I have Profane experiment for +1). There are tradeoffs so not sure.

The changes to crossbows I am somewhat on the fence about. Until I actually get to play with them and experience them I can't say anything (I never have the chance to get on Lamma Land). But on the quiet I am hoping that adding in the AoE to the Inquisitive tree makes up for things but we will see. What I want is for the to make Sniper Shot an AoE too and to remove the damage penalty from Improved Precise Shot.

As for filligrees's I guess it depends on how many dice you are currently sat at and what you would have to give up to get to 14. If you were at like 8 or 9 and had to give up a lot then to me that's not really worth it. I have have done an imbue specific build but my take is this: if building for imbue then build for imbue. If not then Ranged Power over nearly everything else.

Without knowing your exact setup I am hesitant to give more specific advice in case I am vastly wrong/incorrect.

I am probably wrong in that motto but so far it seems to work for me. Is it optimal? Probably not (like everything else I generally do lol) but it works for me.

Looking at the numbers, I am wondering if it might be better to NOT dual shoot in early heroics but still use the INQ tree. You would gain the full benefits in this manner of the attack speed buffs (from rapid shot/rapid reload) and some enhancements in other trees like mechanic (which does not give dual shooter buffs, e.g. Sharpshooter: +1 to hit and damage with all bows, crossbows, and thrown weapons. +1 additional damage and one Sneak Attack die with all non-repeating crossbows if you are not dual shooting.)

It might even be worth it to shut off dual shooting for NHB; I wonder how this will play out with some minor min-maxing.

I don't switch to dual shooting until level 5 when I can equip Diplomancer but you do have some solid points. I'm still on the fence for now.
