Theory Crafting PvP balancing

Just was doing some thinking and I could imagine the first thing that I would do to balance PvP in this game would be to negate spell power, melee power, and ranged power. Then I would also negate prr and mrr. One problem that I can come up with would be PCs still having high DCs to abilities. I think this could be solved with a buff which while in PvP you have a 30% chance of succeeding on a save, on top of your normal save chance. Does this sound like it would work or am I totally wrong? I'd really love some feedback and hopefully the devs take this thread as some ideas for some easy things they could implement to balance out PvP

The Devs abandoned PVP about 45 minutes after the game released.

OK, that's a bit over the top, but PvP has never really been balanced, and trying to do so now, with all the extra power characters have would be well nigh impossible.

Also latency differences would be decisive and there's no way to control for that.

They'd have to put everybody through a box that effectively slowed PvP down to 200ms or so just to start.

I have thoughts! PvP shouldn't be balanced. If you have the ability you should be able to use it. If others can't resist it, that's on them. Honestly, PvP should be the purest fights in the game. No weird restrictions or immunities or any of that jazz.

One option I saw in a mobile game I played (Final Fantasy Brave Exvius) was that they drastically reduced damage, by 90%, maybe more. There might be some magic reduction % that would make pvp doable.

It would probably bug and effect pvE and don’t see much interest in pvp

All PvP characters are 1st level fighters equipped with 1 rock and a club. Armor = Starter Rags.

You still get to allot your stats, but no other enhancements or buffs. Base tactics Trip and Sunder only.

You can throw your rock, but it has a lengthy CD.

Ddo is not a pvp game. It's absolutely not designed for it and doing so would take far too much time and effort for too little gain.
