This freaking lag...

...Is totally unacceptable. It's disregarding peoples valuable time, money, and efforts.
Tagging on an extra 20 minutes to a 5 minute quest because you can't move for minutes on end is crazy.
Wasting XP pots and resurrection cakes like they didn't cost real money.

IDC what the excuse is. If you're open for business and getting paid, then provide a product that actually works or shut it down till it does.

I can not log in any toon that is on my ship, and if one does get in, they are frozen. Can someone please fix this stuff. I want to lag fail a few more quests.

My experience in Shadowdale has been the same as that of everyone above. I hate to be a downer, but the lag in Shadowdale is just as bad as it was in Argo. I don't know anything about computer hardware or programming, so I don't know if this perpetual lag problem is very difficult to solve, or if the people working on it just aren't up to the task. It would be nice to have more information. If this big move to the 64-bit servers is just the beginning of a multiple-step solution — for example, if the plan is to now build several more 64-bit servers, which are expected to curb the lag — that would be very nice to know.

As of now, I'm kind of dumbfounded that all of this time and trouble has gone into a solution that didn't work at all. In fact, when Cormyr first went online, I asked on these boards if the lag would get worse on the 64-bit worlds when they got more populated. So, again, with my extremely limited knowledge, it didn't seem hard to predict what appears to be happening now. And that's what perplexes me. How could it be that the people who do this for a living weren't able to predict what a person with zero knowledge was able to foresee simply with common sense?

Hopefully some of these people threatening to quit and never come back will actually start leaving so we can get the population down to a level where the servers can actually handle the load...

Vent: Tried playing on Thrane yesterday, and Shadowdale today and literally cannot play. Can't get to the ship, can't use the buff bar, can't get below decks, can't move inside quests, can't open chests; I die multiple times in stop lag and I don't even get to watch myself die, lag breaks some quest objectives, my pots and buffs all run out before I can use them - It took over 10 minutes to walk to and use a resurrection shrine, only to die again in the NEXT lag spike.
I couldn't even release from the quest for over 10 minutes...
I am generally patient and understanding but I'm very frustrated and disappointed. On top of that SSG is not responsive and does a piss poor job of communicating with us about all the problems.
I can pay for better service - hire more people, staff your support department and be better.

This is exactly what happened back in... ok, I don't remember the year, 2015 ? when DDO moved away from physical servers into using virtual servers. 😏

Shadowdale is even more laggy than orien, played some lvl 2 quests, reached lvl 4 and didn't want to continue playing. Hope things go better with time but transfering just feel a poor excuse to justify the poor performance.

I wonder if fresh never guilded toons are spared any of this lag.

No, it's server wide, though instance specific. Generally when it hits, it hits everyone in the instance equally, but if you're playing multiple accounts and one happens to be in another area (even just the wilderness) they'll be 100% fine. So it's nothing to do with a character or connection, instances just lock up.

Funny thing. You can find subservers lag free. While others can be a stupid nightmare, unable to walk one step.

So far, anything from 20 to 30 or 50 to 60 is crap, unplayable. 40 to 50 and 60 to 70 were the opposite, really smooth and no lag at all.

Too bad you can't manipulate public zones like that. So they are always a russian roulette.

We are investigating the game performance from the weekend, and we recognize that the gameplay was rough. In my own experience on Thrane over the weekend it went from quite good actually to super not good, and the not-good would last for several minutes at a time.
