A friend farmed an item out of MD. He spent over a thousand shards on rerolls before he finally got it.
He gave his build gear list to another friend who wanted to use the same build.
The other friend went to farm the same item and got it on his 3rd roll.
I have personally been farming some gloves, and so far I've spent 800 shards on rerolls. Most times I invest 45 or 60 shards on rerolls and get nothing in return. Nothing.
A pack of 1,000 shards costs 5,395 ddo points. Unless you already have 400 DDO points, you can't get 5395 in the $35 package. You have to spend $60.

Listen. This is tantamount to robbery. It's like a damn slot machine. You spend real money and there's no guarantee you'll get anything at all except fleeced for your money.
I know some will say "just don't use rerolls". Nonetheless, the option is there. It's not fair, likely illegal, and hella exploitative.
At the least, we should be guaranteed a named item for a reroll. Even if it's not the one we want. But walking away empty handed after spending so much money for one item is not ok. Then watching someone get it basically for free after you spent a fortune is just disrespectful.
This is not a casino. It's a video game.

its called "roll" for a reason. Have you never played with real dice? And casino only works when you put money into the machine. You can literally play DDO as FTP, never spending a penny

Not only is the rare drop rate scheme predatory and hostile to players, they then proceed to milk their players once again if they finally get the desired item, when the player then has to use toolkits to redo the gear set.

Truly, it is a masterpiece of predatory game mechanics.

You are doing exactly what they want you to do.
"Game theory manipulation refers to strategies where individuals or entities intentionally influence the actions of others in a strategic interaction to achieve a desired outcome, often at the expense of the manipulated party. This can involve altering the payoff matrix, misleading players, or leveraging commitment devices to steer decision-making."

So you rather want this to be pay to win ? Where you can straight up spend money to get the best end game gear ?
It is very obvious that a reroll will never give you any guarantee to get what you want. So if you spend a lot of money on it and are unhappy with the result, that´s on you.

I couldn't agree more. It is gambling and it IS exploitive. In my opinion, there should be no rerolls.

And yeah, just to say, "dont reroll" doesn't fix the real problem. Some people are inclined to get trapped into trying again and again. It is addictive and some people can't resist and taking advantage of that is just wrong.

It is exploitive and should not be allowed.

or you can assert your freewill by making an informed choice by saying "Ok I will NOT spend money buying shards for rerolls"

the entire gaming environment is based on dice rolls. Have you never seen the number appear in that diamond-shaped thing whenever you swing etc.

So one could argue after spending money on VIP...the moment you enter a quest and start attacking you are playing casino

and I should feel equally p*ssed whenever I buy VIP and I can't simply waltz through any quest in basic gear at r10
