Beats me! We're already expecting people to exploit this Softcore Lite event, but i certainly did not expect it to be ~~THIS BAD~~
I did not see it for myself since I wasn't playing, but read that they managed to acquire 120K RXP only after 2 days of event starting, while only at character level 3. So although we already were expecting people to party up with their multi past life Alts steamrolling R10, this kind of speed is really quite an eye-opener. Hats off to that chap.. Well Done!

There was an exploit during day one where people could TR and claim winter lanterns. The high scores were triple-completionists with capped out Reaper Points who picked up Winter lanterns and the leaderboards are claiming that they earned the last few years of progress over the single week the event's running.
You can also Triple-Ottos-Box up to 34 immediately, then run Endgame Reaper quests to farm RXP that way.
The Favor Leaderboards are also scuffed but at least the numbers seem mostly realistic. I can confirm the top three guys are playing fair (as I was grouping with the other two for the ride up), but if people actually cared about the favor leaderboards at all, it'd be beyond easy to just... double back and do favor cleanup the moment you hit cap. There's no safeties on level to farm favor, it's just a timegate check. The only thing from keeping me from going higher is that I'm not VIP and don't care enough to grab my opener to open low-heroic quests for me.
My view is that they should've added Summer leaderboards too, and just fully play into the fact that this event is a dumb joke in its entirety. It's taking itself way, way too seriously for what it actually is.
Basically, this event's leaderboards are a bad joke from day one, and shouldn't be considered anything of real value. Farm your cosmetics, get your sheet music, keep whatever keepsakes you like, and enjoy the aesthetics of the Sky Golden Mote, because that encounter is actually really cool, even if none of the other four are.

Even without the exploit, the rules permit so many shenanigans that leader-boards make no sense.

Hut from beyond, talk to Baroness Winterspine and ask which heroes lead the pack. It's also where you pick up more lutes if you want them.

Same in Moonsea :( although some of these players might done this unintentionally.
I actually was skeptical of this event when announced, but I actually like this version. I do like checking the leaderboards periodically, but mostly for favor, as leading rxp is always going to be for the person willing to exploit and spend the most. I never looked at the rXP leaders as all that impressive anyways.
I would tweak this even a bit though and exclude all raids and Devils Assault from the favor list and/or limit grouping to winter lutes only to collect eligble favor ranks.
The other change I would do is once you TR, you lock your favor and rXP on the leaderboards and not erase it. It seems silly to me to even allow TRs and still rank on the leaderboards. And not being able to TR at all, means that character would stay parked and not being able to progress.
Lastly if you want to make rXP legit, that would have to be on a separate server or only be able to group with other winter lutes to collect. Also it seems silly to me to allow people to run normal all the way up to cap and farm r3 for first time bonuses with a pot. That is hardly even hardcore.
I could see if you are doing rXP, taking a sky lute locks you into reaper mode only for that whole life and you must equip that lute by lvl 4 and it becomes bound until the end of the event or until you decide to turn in. Running R1 on heroics is measureably harder and more grindy than doing r3/4 at cap and to me see more in the spirit of HC.

its up to SSG to fix these leaderboards so that these people are removed directly and the exploit that allows past life toons on the lute event hardcore leaderboard's is fixed.

I doubt they are going to fix it and even if they do it's unlikely they find every instance of someone that took advantage of the bug.
I don't fault the players that took advantage of this bug to get their rewards quicker, but I do think it invalidates the leader board entirely and they should remove it rather than having players frustrated it's an uneven playing field where some followed the rules and other didn't .
Ultimately it's a pretty big fumble on this event - that should have definitely been tested before release.

Its not a case or players earning the rewards via bug, thats not relevant.
its the case of players that have TR’d and managed to get their multi-lives toon on the leaderboards with millions of rxp as a level 1 toon.
i an sure someone that cared enough could post a screenshot of the obvious inaccurate leaders
