Thrane is unplayable

................. really?

Yeah me too, I also went to the top of mount Evrest yesterday and played DDO from there. You THINK it wasn't laggy but playing at a specific time when you have zero people on the server, yeah maybe, I can't play at 3 A.M. in the morning.
Way to make an assumption.

7-11 Eastern, US Prime time.

You are not describing my experience on either Shadowdale or Cormyr.

A couple months ago, yes, Shadowdale was that bad, and Cormyr was significantly worse than it is now.

Seems, to me at least, that you are the one making wild claims.
I agree completely. I have played nearly continuously for the last two days. At least 8 hours both days with little to no lag at all.

If I had to guess I would say some network paths are worse than others. My east coast connection seems to be fine.

I do also usually play during the day and not in the evenings.

Most of the time when my gameplay is sluggish it is because my computer is having issues (it is several years old and it wasn't top of the line when I bought it) Obviously we all have our own experience, but I would put my hand up with the people who are not experiencing much lag at all, except on airships.

I do see occasional lag in some dungeons and public areas but it has not been as bad as it was a few months ago.

I agree that the ship lag is terrible.

I would not say that there is no lag, but I will say that the VAST majority of lag I experience is on the airship. If you are having a different experience than most people posting, then the actual logical response is that it IS your connection in some way. It might not be a smart way or even a way that makes sense to anyone outside of the ddo servers themselves, but the issue does most likely exist between you and them, and it's not just them.

I have stayed away from my guild airship since the start of the 64-bit servers, except to refresh buffs, and so have avoided most lag there.

I will get client framerate drops after playing for 2-3 hours and need to restart (it's bad), but no actual server to client lag worse than what I was getting from the 32-bit servers (ok, it's slightly worse, but doesn't impact my gameplay, and I expect it to continue to get better slowly).

Same. I had one disconnect (our ISP working in the neighborhood) but in more hours than is good for me of play time on Thrane over the last few weeks I’ve had maybe three instances where there was noticeable lag, always in the middle of fights with large groups of spawning mobs and/or AOE (epic Garl’s tomb in the pillars where every yuan ti spams obscuring mist and a couple of famine reapers hitting ice storm or something, was the worst) and lasting 5-10 seconds maybe at most before everything caught up. US Eastern morning or evening hours in general.

So I think it’s safe to say that your experience, while unfortunate isn’t universal.

Another thing to consider in all of this is (to my knowledge anyway) no one from SSG has declared the lag problem over, nor have they suggested that they have stopped working on it. The lag has objectively improved over the last couple of months, hopefully there will be more improvements in the future.

P.S. If I am wrong about SSG not saying the lag is fixed, please let me know where I can see that statement.

I haven't noticed any serious lag issues on Thrane in quite a while other than on the guild ship, which had gotten better for a while, but is frequently pretty bad again.

Try not to undersell the lag. It is horrible, still just as bad, honestly its worse. 75 it was worse and 76 it is horrible. Now 77 will be even more laggy. These people who say "it is fine just guild ship" no. No way you can run to the defense of this company and try to defend it. It is awful that the game is still this laggy. The Guildship isn't even close to a problem. I can get my buffs fine, yeah it has the same 2-3 second delay you have in every quest. "Very rare" "Occasinal" "maybe a few times" yeah cut the crap guys. The more we baby up the issue the longer we lose players to the lag. I know what it is like to play DDO with zero lag and crisp interaction. What I have to deal with 99% of the time when I login is garbage delay/buffer system that is some how in place. Spells not working, hitting the button for 5 seconds straight "OH IT WORKS FINALLY", this happens every day I have logged in for the last 3 weeks. Stand up for something, don't just chop it up to be small when it isn't. You do nothing but bring the future and hope for this game down when you guys make such wild claims. No one, and I mean no one, can say that this game doesn't lag consistantly every day like it has been for the last 10 years. Yeah it is better sometimes during the day than other times, but it is consistantly garbage delay and lag. Sick to my stomic that people still think it isn't laggy. Well, GL losing more players and all the new ones who play and experience this delay. I know if I logged in and delt with it i'd quit immediately never to look back.

Edit: I think you guys are just okay with the lag, and have become very complacent, this makes you THINK there is no lag, and the times the lag is worse you think "oh this is the one of few times it is lagging" no, it lags ALL the time, maybe 2 times have I experienced crisp, responsive, no delay gameplay in the last 3 weeks.

Why is our experience invalid? I'm very sincere when I say I only see severe lag on the ship. I might see a small hitch here or there in a quest, but nothing that impacts my game play recently. The guild ship does negatively impact my game play. Sometimes I just log off rather than getting buffs.

I played for 12 hours yesterday on Thrane and had maybe 2-3 hiccups?

Guild ship lag not counted. Those have been an issue recently so I just stay off the boat.

Oh wow just fully read the thread and you seem to be acting quite unhinged towards anyone who isn’t experiencing the lag that you are.

You’re in the significant minority, sir. I would start investigating potential causes on your end.

Well I would agree that SSG should still be actively working on minimizing lag whenever and wherever they can.

They also still need to clean up some of the wilderness details since they implemented their fixes. IOD has a lot of bamboo that just kind floats in air (has no base) as an example. I'm not sure if they ever finished their stone management too... 🤔

That being said, game runs much better. Impressive considering the footprint of the player base @ times on some of these servers. They need to keep at it to make sure the lag monster doesn't rear it's head up again (or more), and they REALLY need to address ship lag.

Been on a bit and it seems OK to me. The ultra-bad lag that was present for months after 64 merge has not returned. However, there are now and then short (12s?) freezing moments -- maybe once every other session.

The guild airships are also horrifically bad with very little change from the merge-lag.

I believe too many people are using their repeaters on the ships and it is interfering with the rocks.
