Three hours...completing Crucible

Armed with ddowiki I finally stokedup the courage to solo Gianthold's Crucible@Normal (I had NO idea what I was doing) with a hireling.

The maze wasn't so bad, taking maybe 20 minutes to finally obtain the horn of cunning. Then came the Test of Agility and everything started falling apart.

I finally realized toggling out of palemaster and simply running [with haste] was the only way to complete this test.

Next...the Test of Instinct. lol hahahah yeah. I got this wrong so many times I decided to to the opposite of the hints...and that also went badly. Eventually I returned to following the hints and got the 50/50 right.

The puzzle wheels were fun and once again I had to toggleoff the palemaster and simply run.

And then finally there was the underwater blah blah. Yeah. When I played this on Reaper in a group the system claimed I had 50 swim. Soloing I discovered actually...I only had 8.5 :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: You need about 30 to get past this and obtain the gold key.

With practise and a better swimming stat I think I should be able to solo this within 30 minutes however for now I will wallow in selfglory that I actually soloed one of the toughest quests in DDO :)(y)

You can't get hints as a Palemaster. Unless, for some completely inadequate reasons, you put points into WIS instead of INT, while playing as a Wizard...

Congrats mate! Way to persevere, once you run it a few more times, soon enough you'll be posting the much wanted lfm's to carry groups every life.

I used to avoid Crucible but we have come to terms with each other. The maze is still a solo pain and I have been known to die in the traps trying to get the second horn, but it has become one I do not avoid anymore. Safety tip: your hireling can heal you underwater and does not swirl around in the current.

Congrats!!

This is one of my favourites to run in hardcore and in EXTREME MV Permadeath, its fun in both heroics and epics on both Elite or Reaper. This is the perfect kind of challenging quest that should be looked at for future designs of challenging quests.

In our guild we teach all the little tips too make this quest just a little bit easier.

I was told a while back the sole purpose of augments was to topup weak areas. Hence my WIS score is...Ok

Sooo....why did you solo it? Did you bother to put up a looking-for-more group posting? Historically DDO is based on D&D which is a game based on the principle that the group is greater than the sum of the parts. Are you anti-social? Are you unable to work with other human beings? Why in a Mass-Mutli-Online-Game are you "soloing" one of the most difficult-at-level-quests?

Because I wanted to learn the mechanics of this quest

I love this... I'll have to show my wife so she can visualize what I keep telling her to do. :D

I have used H... but never like that. It saves a couple pulls. That's nice if they ever decide to change the actual way to run the maze ;)

Are not the three red doors in the center not randomized? So following the above image graphic exactly may not work in that order as you might possess the incorrect crest for that door?

The crests have a couple options for where they drop, yes. But I think that graphic is a worst case scenario that should work for every arrangement.

Wow, that image is a blast from my past!

The crest drop location is indeed semi-random as far as the Snake, Scorpion, and Bat, so it can't be followed 100% every time. It does give a decent route to use under the various ways the crests can appear, though.
